Chapter 10 – Rise Of A New Dawn

The revelations made by Anupriya and Aparna had shattered Sarthak and Malhar’s very existence. Sarthak and Malhar were caught in a storm that had been brewing in their own backyard unbeknownst to them. That night, they could neither sleep nor be awake. Anupriya and Aparna’s words were constantly running in their minds. They had realised how their ego had clouded their judgement and driven them away from their own loved ones. Sarthak was truly devastated after realising that his daughter was really dead. Although Anupriya had planned all this, she never intended to hurt Sarthak’s feelings. She honestly believed that her wrong doings were for a greater good, so she stood by her decision and proceeded to apologize to him.

Anupriya approached Sarthak who was sitting on their bedroom floor and aimlessly staring at the wall. She sat down beside him and began explaining herself. She admitted that she was wrong in having played with his emotions and that she was extremely remorseful about it. But she also explained that given her circumstances, she wasn’t ready to lose her daughter and her grandchild once again as Kalyani was all she had left after their child’s passing. Neither Aaosaheb had considered her as a part of the family nor had Sarthak, so she exclaimed that she did what she thought was right at that moment and apologized to him wholeheartedly for making him a collateral damage in this entire situation. When Sarthak didn’t respond to any of it, she silently stood up to leave. As she was about to leave, Sarthak held onto her hand indicating her to stay back and accepted her apology. He reassured her that while he was devastated about Anupriya’s cover-up, he also admitted that he would have probably reacted differently had he known the truth earlier. So he consoles a weeping Anupriya and sympathised with her. Both of them shared a heartfelt conversation that night and found solace in each other’s arms.

On the other hand, Malhar was lovingly looking at Moksh who was peacefully sleeping in his room. He caressed Moksh’s cheeks and began apologizing to him for being a horrible father. He started resenting himself for having forcefully separated Kalyani from Mukku previously. He realised that even in all that pain, Kalyani was always trying to protect her son. He started seeing flashes of all the times that Kalyani had tried to bring up Mukku’s name in their conversations, only to be shot down by him. He figured out that she was having sleepless nights as she was trying to come-up with ways to reveal the truth to him. He cursed himself for creating such a toxic environment in the home that his own wife wasn’t able to confide in him. She had put up with all his anger and hate while suffering alone in silence. Malhar’s misery new no bounds today. He had lost that one person who had unconditionally and irrevocably loved him.

But the sun next morning brought with it, a sense of clarity and tranquillity in Ahilya Niwas. Anupriya and Sarthak had finally made peace with each other. While Anupriya had made it clear to Malhar, that this incident hadn’t changed anything between them, she had also apologized for keeping him in the dark. They were still not on talking terms with each other, but at least this was a step in the right direction. Anupriya had also informed Aaosaheb about Aparna’s condition. Upon hearing this, a heartbroken Aaosaheb had rushed to her daughter’s aid. She wanted to be with Aparna and care for her during her fleeting moments.

Once Moksh was up, everyone greeted him and informed him that it was time to shed his disguise and embrace his true persona. Hearing this, Moksh immediately ran to his father and hugged him tightly. Malhar was overwhelmed with joy as he held his son – the one that he had so desperately longed for -- in his arms. Anupriya and Sarthak were happy to see them reunite. The father and son spent the rest of the day bonding and cherishing each other. Moksh was clad in clothes that his mother had gifted him. He looked at Kalyani’s photo and innocently asked his father about her whereabouts. He enquired as to why his mother was not with him anymore while weeping to Malhar. Seeing tears in Moksh’s eye made Malhar break down. He kissed Moksh and promised him that he was going to make things right this time around. Malhar became all the more enthusiastic to find Kalyani and reunite her with her Pillu.

Avni had returned to Ahilya Niwas after being in the custody for a couple of days. The investigators had to release her as they didn’t have any solid proof against her and also because her alibi had checked out. Upon returning, she emotionally blackmailed the Ranes into letting her stay in Ahilya Niwas by exclaiming how Ahir had destroyed her life by impregnating her out of wedlock, how Malhar had gone back on his word and how Sarthak had allowed Malhar to marry Kalyani instead of her. Although Sarthak and Malhar didn’t buy into her sob story, they still let her stay with them as one of their family member had gravely wronged her. They didn’t even want to look at her face so they ordered her to live in the outhouse and to abide by their rules if she wished to live under their roof. She knew that by one way or another she would get back at all of them for having ruined her life, this way she at least had access to them. She reluctantly agreed.

It had now been a month since Kalyani’s disappearance, at this point Malhar and the investigators had looked all over Aurangabad for Kalyani and had concluded that she must been moved out of the city. This complicated things as now they had a bigger playing field to look for her. They had not received any ransom calls and had already ruled out the involvement of Kalyani’s enemies. So it had become very difficult to pin point the reason for her disappearance. But nevertheless, Malhar was determined to find her at any cost. There was no way that he was going to let her go without apologizing to her and redeeming himself. Moksh’s life had returned to some sort of normalcy, he didn’t have to hide his identity anymore. He had begun going to school as well and things were finally falling into place, now all he needed was to be with his mother. Malhar was working day in and day out to find Kalyani, with the remainder of his time, he took care of Moksh.

Anupriya and Sarthak had left their past behind them and had finally reconciled. Sarthak had now become her support system. He never interfered between Anupriya and Malhar as he knew that it was neither his place nor was he entitled to resolve their issues. Sarthak had slowly evolved into a peacemaker in the house. During this time Aparna had also passed on and Aaosaheb was in mourning. While Aaosaheb had realised her mistakes, she still was not affectionate towards the Ranes. After everyone was asleep, Anupriya used to sit on the front porch everyday praying for her daughter’s return while reminiscing the time she had spent with Kalyani. Though Sarthak was aware of her activity, he stepped back in order to give her some space.

It was the day of Malhar’s birthday, Moksh had learnt about it in passing from Sarthak previously and was planning a birthday party for his dad. Moksh had also convinced Anupriya to bake a cake for Malhar, she had hesitantly agreed to it as she didn’t want to hurt Moksh’s feelings. He was the first one to wish his father on his birthday with a tight hug. Moksh had decorated a small portion of the living room with balloons that he had purchased using his own allowance. All in all, Moksh was really excited to celebrate with his father. But this day was particularly difficult for Malhar as the memories of his prior birthdays which he had spent with Kalyani were haunting him and he was missing her presence immensely. He was fondly remembering how he had naughtily stolen a kiss on the cheek from Kalyani on one of his previous birthdays, there was no hate or misunderstanding then, it was just him and his Kalyani with their one year old baby Moksh. He was ready to give up anything to get back to that time. So he was in no mood to celebrate his birthday this year without her. But Moksh had missed out on a lot of familial occasions during his formative years due to his separation from his parents, so Sarthak convinced an unwilling Malhar to participate in the festivities.

That evening, Moksh gathered everyone around to cut the cake. Everybody plastered on a fake smile for Moksh’s sake and joined him in wishing Malhar. Avni was not invited while Aaosaheb had rejected Moksh’s invite. So it was just the four of them. He instructed his dad to make a wish and to blow on the candles. Malhar agreed and closed his eyes to make a wish. He wished to see Kalyani once again and blew on the candles.

Now the thing about birthday wishes is that when done sincerely, the universe sometimes happily grants it. And this was one such occasion. As Malhar was about to cut the cake, he heard a familiar voice which sent a chill down his spine. As the distant voice approached, he saw the silhouette of a girl dressed in blue jeans and a ruffled white off shoulder blouse walking towards him. The moment he saw her face, the knife in his hand dropped on the floor. And everyone there was equally shell shocked as him. They couldn’t believe their own eyes, it was none other than their Kalyani in flesh and blood.

Was it a mirage or was it reality? Had Kalyani truly returned? Where was she all these days? What had happened with her? Who had taken her? What new change was her return going to bring in their lives? Find out more in Chapter 11.

That’s it for today guys. Hope you all liked Chapter 10, we are now on the brink of a new beginning. So please stay tuned and as always I am truly grateful for all your support. Please share your feedback on this chapter, your comments and likes give me the courage to keep going. Take Care and Stay Safe FAM.
