The ritual is basically a tradition to signify that the 'new' Identity and new life of the bride is now her reality and she must come out of her old life into the new one. Feminists argue it as allowing the husband to crush her identity.

But in more modern times, it's rather seen as a gesture of love where the husband picks a name that he would like to address her as..

Also, I can share another fact of the same Sai - Apart from being Shiva-Sai Jodi from the Maratha history , Sai is also a perfect name for her as per her personality traits. Most of the Hindu families follow the raashi while naming their children. And Sai is actually a name for acquarian girls. They carry the traits of being intelligent, self respecting and outspoken. They are also said to be angry young women 🤣 and it's very difficult to understand them at times. Virat better not attempt any other name for her.

He could try Shaanti though. 🤣

There is no question of name change. Sai will obviously continue with Sai and I want her to continue with the same name. And yes Virat will also write the same name.

I was thinking about the same. Pakhi didnt change her name. Her name was Pakhi and still is the same.

All this name change i dont like. Its a thing of past. This ritual should be discarded. Why women even needs to change their surname.... Patriarchy i guess😔

I haven't change my name and surname😆 it was like tele serial drama during my marriage🤣 All the kakus, maushis wanted to change my name. As I have same name as my sasubai😆 this gave them strong reason to change my name. My husband and sasubai knew about my love for my name😆 but my husband kept teasing me till the end. At last when he started writing on rice plate I glared at him angrily and he laughed out loud while writing my original name only.🤣 since then everyone calls me chhoti anjali to differentiate between me and sasubai🤣

Shaadi me rituals me and baad me toh they forgot to formalise it 😆 so now she's living up to the name. Dolled up and standing in a corner, cannot be missed due to her beauty but that's about it. 🤔

Right looking at the feminist perspective it seems regressive to have the name changed just because a woman is getting married. First she is identified by her father's name and once married her husband's name. I hope in this show we are able to Sai getting her own identity. Knowing Virat and his protactvines towards Sai, he will let her keep her pahechan.

We all know that Virat will retain Sai's name. He's not going to do anything to provoke her. He's going to make sure that uski aatma-sammaan ko koi thes na pohonche😉

I made another post, focusing only on Bhavani's stand on the ritual. I want see Pakhi Didi's reaction to Virat writing Sai on the plate and giving a heartfelt explanation for it, being the adarsh pati he is.
