Ridhay will enter the story after the interval and we are yet not anywhere near it. After that Ridhay will be a full-fledged character and will have his own storyline and journey. As far as his and Riddhima scenes there will be loads of it.🙂

Chapter 17

“You know, when you stop being frightened, time really is on your side.

And you can just go on being you.”

In Colaba Social at 9:30 pm

She has never been a fan of loud music or too much of a crowd but right now she is having the time of her life. For some reason, she is enjoying the very same things maybe it’s the company that matters? Talking about the company she couldn’t have asked for more fun and nicer company than the crazy girl who is bouncing on the couch, and the other who is sitting silently having a drink looking at both of us and people around, enjoying the music with a sweet smile on her face.

Riddhima thought looking at Sejal and Sia respectively.

When Sejal asked for a celebration of my supposed freedom (with an eye-roll) she wasn’t really up to it but that was the very reason why she came up with this crazy-all-girl-night-out plan. How you may ask?? Wellllll

Flashback

Lost in her thoughts she was staring at the ceiling. Though while taking the decision of divorcing Vansh she was pretty sure about it but couldn’t stop herself from wondering with the very dangerous ‘what ifs?’. Now that things have preceded these ‘what ifs’ become more prominent? No, she is not having second thoughts or doubts.

She is known what she wants from her life and she does want this impending divorce. The thing is that even though she has decided to move on it is easier said than done. She might feel light and free for now but that does not mean her feelings for Vansh has gone away. No, they are still there and those very feelings are the ones who are trying to mess her up.

Slowly, steadily but surely together we’ll overcome this. One should just remember to celebrate even the failures but here it’s the freedom that we are fighting for even if it will take time. Hence let’s party and celebrate the first step to freedom because the journey won’t be easy but we can make it fun.

Riddhima heard Sejal saying those words bringing her out of her thoughts and said

“Excuse me. What?”

“What? Oh, nothing was reading a book.”

Sejal said with a huge smile making Riddhima raise her brows as if asking

“Book and you?”

and said with a deadpan voice.

“You and book don’t go along in one sentence. You hardly managed to pass in and finish your graduation, and at least hold the book that you are supposedly reading straight instead of holding it upside down.”

Jumping and sitting up straight Sejal said

“It is perfect let’s celebrate it. You are getting divorced man.”

The last part getting all excited and then continued with

“This does call for celebration dude. You’ll be free in just 6 months more maybe we won’t be needed to wait for even that long. Chauhan uncle is just that good he’ll handle everything smoothly.”

The bouncing and getting all the more thrilled at the thought

“Come on let’s go out. Let’s party all night”

Sejal continued making Riddhima stare at her in wonder and thinking Sejal is probably the first true friend who was so happy and excited about her friend's divorce. Sejal was an oddball Riddhima knew but at times even she gets surprised with Sejal’s weirdness.

“Uhh Sejal”

Riddhima started only to be cut off in between by Sejal with

“Stop being a sissy and be fun”

Making Riddhima narrow her eyes at her and reply with an icy.

“Fine get ready but first Dadi’s permission.”

Both the girls came down from the room and went to Dadi's room to take permission from her.

Looking at the girls Dadi gave a smile along with Sia who was sitting there with her.

“Dadi how are you? Hi, Sia”

Riddhima asked Dadi along with greeting Sia while Sejal was grinning from ear to ear.

“I am fine beta. How come you two are here?”

Dadi asked with a smile.

“Actually Dadi we came to take your permission for the all-night out,”

Sejal informed to jovially also asking her permission.

“All night out? Where are you two heading to?”

Sia asked getting curious.

“Yeah, in fact, why not you too join us? It’ll be fun but of course not without Dadi’s approval.”

Sejal replied looking at Dadi making her smile and nod her head in agreement.

With a broad smile, Sejal hugged Dadi tightly all excited and screamed

“Thank you Dadi”

Making Riddhima facepalm in exasperation, Sia and Dadi laugh at Sejal.

“Beta you both came here to take my permission so that does mean that you still harbour love and respect for me. I and relation with me do mean something to you. So can I ask something from you? Please don’t break relation with us after your divorce from Vansh. Riddhima, I and Sia we love you a lot. It doesn’t matter if you remain married to Vansh or not the relation and love we share with you are not dependent on your and Vansh’s relation. I know he asked you to stay away and that is why you have kept this condition but beta what is our fault in all this? Why punish us?”

Dadi said with tears in her eyes and getting emotional making the Sia and Riddhima teary-eyed.

Riddhima could only hug her in return while Sejalgave a sad smile.

“Dadi I am not doing this because Vash wants this. I am doing it because that’s what is best for all of us and that's what I want. If we kept in contact even after my and Vansh’s divorce it will only bring pain and bitterness. Distance is what I asked for because that is what is needed and would be required then. Though if you feel I am being unfair and punishing you then I promise I’ll contact you later and won’t cut off from you both entirely but space and the break are what I want after the divorce. That is what I need time away from everyone and everything for a while. I hope you both will understand and will give me time.”

Riddhima said pulling away from Dadi making Dadi and Sia smile in understanding.

“So where are you both heading to? Aren’t you getting late?”

Dadi asked with a smile making Sejal alert in realization and say

“Oh gosh thank you, Dadi for reminding I almost forgot why we were here.”

Making Dadi laugh and then turning towards Riddhima and Sia with a finger pointing towards both of them respectively she continued with

“Both of getting ready fast I want you two ready and out in 30 minutes at the most.”

“By the way what is the occasion?”

Sia asked with a smile.

With a wicked smile, Sejal replied:

“We are celebrating Ri’s freedom aka her divorce with your brother.”

Making Sia’s eye pop out with a slightly opened mouth and Dadi stared for a moment before bursting out in laughter.

Unaware of the ladies in the room Vansh who stood outside the room heard everything.

Dressed up to the T the girls came down gathering the attention of everyone. Looking at them Dadi smiled and said

“Ready to go? All of you are looking lovely. Enjoy.”

“Where are you going?”

Ishani asked looking at Sia.

“We are going for a girl's night out. You..”

Sia replied only to be cut off by Ishani with a proud voice and putting down Riddhima and Sejal

“No thanks, I wouldn’t want to be seen with those two middle-class losers in places that do not match with our standards. It’s not good for my/our reputation. I suggest even you find a better company and friends Sia.”

“I am sorry but I did not hear anyone of us inviting you.”

Quipped Sejal and continued with a sugary sweet smile

“You see neither of us would want to ruin our fun time with a proud whiner tagged along with us.”

Only to get a glare from Ishani in return and making a chuckle escapes from Aryan who was eyeing Riddhima all this while.

“All right we are getting late we have so much to do. Let’s go. By Dadi.”

Sejal said bidding adieu to Dadi with both girls bidding their goodbyes to the older lady.

The girls left for their night of enjoyment.

Flashback Ends

Hence now here they are in a pub after exhausting themselves playing games and roaming around in Smaaash. Talking about that it was fun playing air hockey and oh the bumper cars and a lot more. The fun would have been even more having the sour loser sitting beside me had not cheated in the game. Riddhima thought giving a death glare to Sejal. Then remembered how they ended up fighting and would have continued had Sia not interfered in between and offered to be an honest referee. Though there everything is automatic still with Sejal that brat can cheat even computers.

“I like it here. I have never been to a place like this before. It has always been 5-star hotels and restaurants that I have been with Ishani and our family. I never really had many friends before you two. Rather didn’t have the opportunity because of my disability. Thank you for bringing me here. It is a different experience seeing all these different people, the chatter and clattering of the sound in the background. Even though I'm wheelchair the people hear doesn't care about it.”

Sia said with a smile looking around the place and different people. Hearing her other two girls looked at her with a smile little sadness seeping in them but before it can spoil the mood Sejal with a mock seriousness like a wise elderly making younger one understand of life lessons and giving advice said

“See that’s why I told you to stay away from sourpuss. It never does any good to be around killjoys. It’s hazardous for the sense of humour and fun.”

Clearly indicating towards Ishani and Aryan making Sia and Riddhima laugh.

Lost in his thoughts Vansh remembered the talks he heard in Dadi’s room between Riddhima and the older lady. It has been a week since the day Mr Chauhan left and from that day itself, Dadi has stopped talking to him even Sia had been upset with him. Along with Dadi, even his sister has started to avoid not just talking to him but him altogether. He remembered how Dadi has asked Riddhima to not break ties with her and Sia after their divorce. He remembered her saying that it’s what she wants and hence the decision not because of him but what agitated him the most was what Sejal said about them going to celebrate the divorce.

Is she happy to get rid of him? Has she moved on so soon? What about all that love that she had for him? Had it gone so soon and if yes then how will his plans to break her and send her in the condition Ragini was going to work? How the hell would he take revenge from Kabir? He remembered when he saw the girls come down dressed up for their night out and looking at Riddhima, Vansh went still for a moment. She was wearing high wasted jeans and an off-shoulder crop top showing her waist. Though the attire was nothing face and was pretty normal it suited her. He never saw her in any western attire and he had to admit she was looking nice and hot too considering neither he nor Aryan was able to take his eyes off of her. Talking about Aryan he often wonders how many times that guy needs to be slapped and or beaten up to stop eyeing his elder brother’s wife.

Vansh thought with annoyance and a frown on his face.

He never liked when Aryan used to misbehave with her or tries to touch her with wrong intentions as a matter of fact he never liked the thought of any other man anywhere near her. She was his to make or break and he wants to break her. Agree he does not love her yet he would never share her with anyone else or tolerate any man near her except for himself. As long as she is with him, in front of him, no other man is allowed anywhere near her and that is also the reason he did not want to stay in contact with her after their divorce or want her anywhere near his family or himself. She was an unwanted distraction and a bother nothing more nothing less. Now all he needs is to do is make sure to finalize the divorce as soon as possible and get the woman out of his life and house as soon as possible.

Vansh thought with a determined look.

She had been a person who had been sure of almost everything in her life be it what she wants and desires or how and who she wants. For the first time, she isn’t much sure of what she is doing or what is she wants and desires. At times she feels sorry then she remembers everything.

Everything about Kabir, Vansh, and then she remembers her. She is the one remembering whom she gets angry even more than she already was. Riddhima is the one looking at whom she gets even more infuriated. She is the reminder of everything she herself went through for Kabir and he just like that moved on and found himself Riddhima. Then there is Vansh who though had been there for and with her but still went ahead and married Riddhima.

On one hand, is Kabir who never really loved her and had made a deal for the love I always wanted from him, and on the other hand, is Vansh who though claims to love her yet married Riddhima. Thinking about everything about the past and the present is what makes her resolve stronger, and now she is not going to back off. There is no going back, no more guilt.

Ragini thought with determination in her eyes and certainty. Any doubts that had been there been long gone.

“So what’s next? Where do we go now?”

Riddhima asked clapping her hands looking at both the girls.

“Patience baby girl patience. Games did, food done for now, next is some music. Let me go and pay the bill while you two head out I’ll catch you there.”

Sejal said and left to pay the bills.

Leaving the pub with Sia, Riddhima saw two men who were sitting in the corner get up. Looking at them she felt as if she saw them even when she left home along with Sejal and Sia also maybe at the Smaaash as well when they went there. Had the guys been following them all this while she thought with fear and dread sipping in? Then shaking her head and discarding her thoughts she went out with Sia and quick enough joined by Sejal.

Soon the girls found themselves in one of the most happening places of the Mumbai city’s nightlife The Quarter in Opera House. Much to the delight of girls, tonight a rock band was going to perform later with other artists.

“Wow”

escaped from Riddhima’s mouth looking at the place. She always wanted to come here but for reasons never got the chance to come here till date.

Settling on their seat girls ordered drinks. An artist was performing some indie-pop music. Once their drinks arrived sipping it the girls enjoyed the performances.

After a while and few performances later Sia asked

“Sejal how did you managed to get the tickets at such short notice. This place is usually booked and packed. If not beforehand booking of tickets getting here is difficult at the last moment.”

Hearing her Riddhima and Sejal turned around and gave a look to each other. With a weak laugh, Sejal answered

“A friend of mine works here as a manager so got the tickets that too with discount.”

With a broad smile showing her teeth while Riddhima drank water sitting straighter and gave a big tight smile, blinking her eyes at Sejal’s reply in nodding her head getting a little nervous.

Looking at both of them a frown appears on Sia’s forehead. As she opened her mouth to question those two about their nervousness but before they can continue an artist start performing and successfully grabbing her attention and distracting her.

Sighing with relief Sejal and Riddhima thanked their stars and the performer mentally. Had it been any other time for a smooth liar like Sejal it wouldn’t have been hard to thwart Sia with that question but the fact that she might or might not have ordered drinks with alcohol in it made her slip up from the character of the middle-class girl.

Of course, unbeknownst to the other two girls, even their drinks were alcohol-induced at least Riddhima's was with Sia she wouldn't cross the line. Riddhima anyway wasn’t the best liar out there. She’ll have to be careful to not otter out something that she shouldn’t and also Riddhima doesn’t end up sprouting things out of her mouth. Will have to keep an eye on missy Sejal thought eyeing Riddhima who was swaying on the music sitting in her place and looking towards the stage at the performers.

It’s been an hour since he got that call and now he doesn't know how or what to feel about the news he has received. On one hand, he was happy and on the other hand, he still had his doubts. Apparently, the almighty Mrs. Vansh Rai Singhania has decided and declared in front of the entire family that she wants to divorce Vansh. In a way, it was good for him and his plans since it would mean Ragini has managed to gain his trust and can do what she was supposed to do.

Riddhima has already gone out of his control maybe not entirely but now he doesn’t trust her to be manipulated easily. Then again he isn’t really sure about Ragini and her intentions as well. Will, she so his biddings? On the other hand, he couldn’t stop himself from wondering if Vansh never really loved Riddhima then why the hell did he marry her? And what in the world does all the possessiveness mean that he keeps on showcasing now and then? Is Vansh playing some kind of wrenched game that he is not able to see and understand?

Thought and wondered Kabir while roaming in his bedroom in the middle of the night at 2 o’clock two and fro.

I need to find out. I need to do something and fast.
