Hello Everyone!
For all those who are eagerly waiting for Jalebi Bai of the Week to start
(let's just pretend there's someone, okay?
),
Here's the first episode of Season 3
Well, we have had two previous stints with JBOTW and you can find the threads here and here.
Since this is the third season, I thought of a twist in the format
.
Instead of simply announcing the chosen Member, we will have a Koffee with Karan kinda brief chat and question-answer session to warm the Jalebi Bai up... before she gets grilled
.
And the members ended up throwing another twist on me
,
Since these two Jalebis refuse to part from each other š.
Eventually, I decided two Jalebis are always better than one
.
Soooo we have a Double Dhamaka in this first episode
.
Andddd...
No points for guessing who the Duo are...
Yes it's our very own, R and S of the Podcast fame.
Woo hoo
Introducing them, for those who are unaware (Duh! You been living under a rock?
)
Their Podcasts are the talk of the town, and they're trending all over YouTube, Spotify, IF, Tumblr... basically everywhere.
Apart from this, both are very old members of IF
(Don't go by the Newbie status of S, she refuses to divulge her previous ID
).
R / Ridz / BlueMystique is a writer, reader, and occasional shit-stirrer (her words not mine
). Some of her written works include In This Moment, Mine, Cross My Heart and Murder, She Wrote. You can find all these and more on her Wordpress Blog ridzmystique. She's also on Tumblr by the same name.
S / IPodcastKKND is also a writer along with being an amazing Graphicer! You can check out her Tumblr site jalebi-weds-bluetooth for her personal blogs and GIF sets. Her written work is also available on Wattpad.
Now that we are done with the basic introduction, let's get started on knowing you both a bit further
.
If you don't mind sharing, what line do you both work in?
S - I studied film and television and I work here and there with regards to this industry :)
R - I (unfortunately) work in an industry completely unrelated to anything to do with media or television. Which is why I love this escape so much.
Wow! So S, unlike us all, is actually doing something productive by writing and analyzing about IPK
.
Does it help you in your work?
S - Actually it does! Iāve spent so much of time making edits of IPK that it has genuinely sharpened my editing skills *lol* and above all, I get to learn a LOT about the production aspect of sets - and appreciate IPK more because of it. Also analyzing IPK has helped me analyze other Indian content - especially on the television - and I have a LOT of fun doing that.
Wow! That seems good .
So, apart from Writing (which you both have in common) what other hobbies do you have?
S - Editing, talking (incessantly), watching television shows/movies, coloring, dancing and bathroom singing. I have a speciality for singing terrible 90ās Hindi songs with zero tal...
*Interrupts the incessant talking*
Which song do you have in your mind right now?
S - Husn Hai Suhaana!
*dances Govinda style*
![]()
*Joins in although she has no clue of the song or steps*
Oh yes, your hobbies Ridz?
R - Reading. Scrolling down a timeline with no end. Quote finding. Binge watching shows, I am incapable of watching in moderation and generally tend not to start anything that isnāt done or atleast has a few seasons under its belt.
Which was the last show you watched?
R - I am currently watching Crash Landing on You on Netflix. Recommend it a 100%, itās everything youād want out of a romantic comedy. And so far itās given me no urge to write, which means itās as perfect as it can be.
S - Ditto. Iām watching that as well. Itās hilarious and well written.
I won't ask you both your favorite shows (because you aren't allowed to answer anything other than IPK here, thik hai?
)
S - I WILL LOVE IPK UNTIL MY DEATH. It shall always remain as my favorite show.
*Eternally fangirling IPK*
Before I start with the other questions, it's time for a commercial break where I promote my other threads
. Kidding, I just wanted to say that you should Vote for Barun who has been nominated for Halahal and Asur both.
I remember you both doing a Podcast on Halahal. Have you watched Asur? Which character did you like better - Inspector Yusuf Qureshi from Halahal or Nikhil Nair from Asur?
S - As a character? Inspector Yusuf Qureshi, hands down. I think Barun did brilliantly as an actor in both of them but I think playing Yusuf allowed him to explore and break from the urban stereotypes he usually gets casted as.
R - Iād say Yusuf because of how different the character was, I love love love dark comedy and I appreciated how effortlessly he pulled that off. I absolutely enjoyed Nikhilās character, and Asur was a great show, but he wasnāt the only thing that made that show for me. Whereas I think a lot of enjoyment I got out of Halahal was because of Yusuf.
Ooh, since I haven't watched either, I'll refrain from making any comments here
.
Coming back to the familiar turf, who is your favorite character from IPK?
I've heard of R's love for NK, is that true?
YES YES THAT IS TRUE! He is Rās favorite character. But if we had to expand this answer then the character with the most satisfying end would be - Lavanya. The character with the best arc - Arnav Singh Raizada. And we essentially love Arnav-Khushi as a jodi beyond heaven.
R - S has an intense amount of affection for kidnapper Rocky because he became the most entertaining part of IPK at one point for her (I have some regrets in this friendship).
S - *internally planning a kidnapping for R* But, in my defense, that kidnapper dude made sure Arnav and Khushi had enough time to run around and Rabba Ve (this is crack humor, ofc I hated the kidnapping track).

So is it Rocky that keeps you addicted to IPK till date? Or do we have someone / something else?
S - Lol, I think itās the fact that very few shows have actually captured our attention in this way. Thereās something about IPK thatās evergreen. Their style of writing, production and foundation for characters gives us continuous motivation to write and discuss about them - irrespective of when it was last telecasted. Also they had an irreplaceable cast - I do not think anyone else could have played Arnav and Khushi apart from Barun and Sanaya. Sanaya is the most underrated but brilliant actress of her generation in Indian television. In short, the show made magic.
R - In a way I think IPK getting things almost right is also a blessing in disguise. I donāt imagine these many works of art exist if a show this good didnāt quite get things right. I imagine if it was completely satisfactory weād also have moved on by now.
Wow! Spoken like true analysts, both of you
. I would have simply said, "Its Magic, Its Magic"
.

S - It is magic *wink*... and ASR in a white shirt for Ridz.
Oooo... Here you go

IF has become synonymous with IPK for many of us. The forum has seen a lot over the years... What have been your best moments so far? Also, would you suggest any changes for the future?
S - Well, it's a mixed bag. Since Iām pretty new in the IPK forum, some of the best moments have been interacting with people based on what they thought about the podcast and now this! Also, some people are ABSOLUTELY KIND and I LOVE IT! But you come across some ludicrous people here and there. I remember people taking their forum life so seriously that major scuffles would break out. I think everyone just needs to chill. Shanti se raho aur rehne do :) Enjoy everything with a touch of salt.
That's true. Just chill chill, just chill
.

R - I did really enjoy being a part of the forum at one point, mostly right around the time the show was on and right after. I met some lifelong friends here and discovered my escape in writing which has also been a constant companion. Infact, the best moment for me was the start of my writing journey. Everyone was absolutely supportive and encouraging. Probably wouldnāt have stuck to it if it werenāt for them. But I must admit, I also enjoyed some of the trolling threads I might have participated in when the show went haywire. Wouldnāt do it again, because it might have been a bit mean spirited but it was fun when it happened. I donāt think the fandom for this show is quite matched by any other in Indian TV history. That said, I miss how active the forum used to be.
I hope to change that last part soon
.
Stick around the forum, there are a lot of things planned for Christmas and New year
.
CONTINUED IN NEXT POST.
