I’m actually okay with her calling him Sir. When she calls him Virat it should have an impact on others.
Pakhi ki toh batti gul ho jayegi 😆
Actually it is very common among Marathi women to address their husbands as "saheb" or refer to them as "saheb" or "rav (rao)" But because she says "Sir" to carry on the way they have been addressing each other, it sounds too formal.
Ok. Anyway she is not a Chavan khandan ki bahu. The place where she is staying is her mother in law's maternal home. Even though married, mentally she hasn't accepted Samrat Salunkhe so she can continue with her own surname like you mentioned.
Yesssssssss.🙌
Even if she wants to be 'formal' with him - he's still her husband!
It's like Paro referring to Rudra as Major Shb in RR💆🙉😑...
I completely agree with the comfort level thing. Applaud y’all’s patience and reason, but I hate it so much that I don’t even care how, they just need to get rid of the sir ASAP. If they want to remove it only when Virat gets irked by it then, PLEASE VIRAT, GET IRKED!
It will take time for Sairat to understand each other. Only when they become friends, Sai might stop calling Virat Sir.

Thanks for the information, @jankiraghav! 🙂
What’s Navra and Bayko in Marathi and when are these terms used?
Oh yeah! Now that you say it, I do remember that from Bajirao Mastani! But do you think Sai is referring to him as sir due to this tradition?

Navra Baiko is Marathi for miya-biwi. Some husbands lovingly call their wives 'baiko' also.
It's more for the third person addressing the two than each other. Between the couple it's usually names or if the women come from a conservative family where they don't want to utter the name they will say 'Aaho' or Saheb or Rav/Ravsaheb. In rural Maharashtra 'dhani' is so used by women to address husbands
