Bhavani is highly orthodox and prefers to follow the age old beliefs without considering the effects be it good or bad. Since a greater fondness is shown for male child in Indian traditions because they carry forward the family name, she has been following that. Moreover she has lost her husband and has no son of her own hence Virat has become the apple of her eye.

Btw I have a doubt, was Virat born after Bhavani's husband Nagesh Chavan's death? If this is the case she must be considering Virat as her husband's re-incarnate. 😆
