And yeah, the Aberfan episode was fabulous. I’m so glad there’s someone who loves Coleman’s Queen at least as much as Foy’s. I have loved Olivia Coleman ever since I first saw her in Broadchurch and will swallow anything she’s in. So I absolutely had no problems with her playing the Queen. In fact, I rather loved the casting choice and will miss her on S5 and 6, though Imelda Staunton is pretty good too so we’ll see how she does. About Diana, I was actually stoked when I heard Elizabeth Debicki would be playing her and was more excited about watching S5 thinking I would ‘tolerate’ this Emma Corrin for one season. But oh boy, she has me wishing she would keep playing Diana in future seasons. Same goes for Charles. I totally sympathized with him in S3 and felt sorry for him too, but he was such a hypocrite this season! And so resentful and entitled! I hated how he put Andrew down too on his wedding day!
I think overall it was pretty shameful how they all treated Diana. Though I did think they could have dwelt a little more on some happy moments, they made it look like the marriage was doomed from the start. Charles did give up Camilla and they seemed happy for a while at least.
I also wish they had dwelt on Diana’s friendship with Fergie. They made it seem like she had no friends in the family and I have read the two women were good friends and confidantes. It would have been interesting to see more of Fergie, she too was a colourful personality.

Other shows I watch: Hmm well, I watch whatever catches my fancy. I’m pretty easy to please like that! 😳
Some shows I have watched recently:

Sex education

Dark

Lovesick

Schitt’s Creek (still watching on S6)

Some others I have enjoyed:

Broadchurch

Downton Abbey

Luther

House M.D.

Homeland

Sherlock

I generally seem to prefer British shows; they’re shorter and easier to get through.
What about you?

Ohh and about Jude Law- don’t be embarrassed! I get like that about my favs too! 😳

Olivia Coleman is hard to not like. She's just so talented. And Staunton is just a legend. I'm sure she's going to be fabulous.

This season was really a bad one for Charles. He just came off as the worst sort of guy. A selfish, arrogant man. Josh deserves all the praise for his portrayal. A small part of me is sad that he didn't get to marry the woman he loved then. But I really can't forgive him to treating Diana the way he did. Totally agree with you about Fregie.

I've just started Dark and I like whatever I've seen. When it comes to shows, even I go for British ones. I recently watched After Life starring Ricky Gervais and it's one of the best shows on mental health that I've seen.

I've been a fan of Sherlock although I hated the fourth season. What about you? Did you like the fourth season?

Dark was something else, but I’ll let you form your own opinion on it without giving anything away!

Oh Sherlock Season 4! The less said the better. I loved the casting but by S4 I started to feel it was more about style and less about substance. S1 and 2 remain among the best things I’ve seen on TV.
I did watch a few episodes of Afterlife but didn’t get around to finishing it. Maybe I should.

I have also watched Game of Thrones (cop out ending) and Black Mirror (again hit or miss, but the good ones are really good!)

Now I'm so intrigued about Dark. Maybe you will tell me what you thought of it after I finish?

Season 1&2 were the best. The Sherlock creators created a magnificent beast they couldn't feed after two seasons and it ended up feasting on them.

I totally recommend Afterlife.

GOT S8 was a disaster. Even thinking about the mess they made of that show is unbearable. I hope GRRM gives us the GOT closure we all deserve.

I've just watched the first two seasons of Black Mirror. I keep thinking about starting again but I never get to it.

The Sherlock creators dug themselves into a deep hole they couldn't get out of. Honestly, some of the fan theories were more exciting than what they put out in S4.

Maybe I will try Afterlife, I have to be in the right mood to watch it, also I find it difficult to binge watch it, although there aren't that many episodes. Right now I'm in a certain kind of mood watching Schitt's creek. 😆

Some Black Mirror episodes are masterpieces. I actually began watching from S3, due to some strange twist of fate engineered by Netflix, and I was so intrigued by the series. The latest season (s5) is the weakest. All others have some redeeming episodes.

Dark 😈 Yeah sure, you finish watching and then we'll talk! 😆😎

Going to binge watch s4 🥰

Have adored all the earlier seasons.

For the older cast circa s3: it's not easy stepping into the shoes of some other actor & moreover playing an older version of the character & still getting to stay relevant, so will give them a pass, though ofcourse the s1-2 cast will remain gold for me ❤️

Have heard that the portrayal of Princess Di has been stellar, so waiting to catch up on all that as already can feel in 1-2 episodes that the portrayal of Prince Charles has been on point.

As I'm still watching s4, haven't really read your complete post but this comment stood out

Omg yes....! First noticed Olivia in Broadchurch as well & the transition from that unsure character to this confident Queen.... amazing acting.

And yeah... still in S04E03 - Fairy tale (which it is not) but can just say the girl playing Diana has killed it already.

She's brought Princess Di to life ❤️

Best part was rollerblading in Buckingham palace 😂😂😂

Are there no creations anywhere on IF for the Crown?

A fellow Olivia C fan and Broadchurch viewer! 🤗

Yes, Emma Corrin is fantastic! She just embodies Di!

Creations? You mean GIFs? or FFs? I think tumblr or AO3 would be a better bet to find those! I have a hard enough time finding people who watch this show on IF!

I loved this season and it was mostly because I loved Emma Corrin

She bought Diana to life whether it was the accent or innocence or mannerisms or look

I liked the Australia tour and how everyone was cheering for her in the theatre. Disliked Charles he came across as very negative (not sure if that is genuinely how he was in this it looked very bad and upsetting)

Yet to see complete s4 so not commenting

Felt that Charles and Camilla deserved each other....both very jaded, cynical personalities.

They shouldn't have entangled Diana in their relationship & ruined her life.

I think he did resent her popularity, though there are a lot of media pics where they seem happy. The show depicted it as though the marriage was doomed from the start and that might be slightly inaccurate because Charles did give up Camilla for a few years.

Josh O'Connor was soo good as Charles too, and I'm glad I'm finding so many here who love Emma Corrin's portrayal of Princess Di. She nailed it!
