Lol actually Deepika was not really a bad actress earlier in my opinion 😆Nothing extraordinary, but not horrible like this forum picturize. I enjoyed watching her in Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, YJHD, Kartik Calling Kartik, Piku, Tamasha etc....BUT! Getting accustomed to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's definition of "Grace" & "Elegance" ruined her. She was totally stone faced in Bajirao Mastani, repeated the same in Padmavat. Seeing how she acts that way only in SLB's movies, it's probably SLB's idea...but ultimately that damaged her skills & now she kinda...forgot how to act maybe 🤓
I think it also has to do with the fact that the two were in the early love stage...lots of flirting, sexual tension and RS was crushing on her too 😉

I see atleast 1 post a day on Deepika worship...She is better actress than Meena Kumari to Alia . All others are losers with absolutely no star power.
Nevermind Deepika's lack of Box office opening power. Chapaak is niche, but Raazi is not ... A super star means BIG BOX office numbers... even if the film eventually flops.
She is anything but wooden. And she is fire in the song!

😆 Actually SLB tends to focus a lot on the aesthetics of the film and leaves the acting execution to the actors...he gives them their space to do however they wish to do the scenes.

BTW, among the movies mentioned above, OSO required hardly any acting from Deepika. She was a prop in most scenes and had just a dialogue or two at the most.

Good point and their acting came off as almost natural involving scenes of sexual tension, in contrast to the climax scene in the same movie.

I might be wrong, but I think I have heard / read that SLB is a very hard-to-please kind of director and filming for SLB's movies usually takes up a lot more time than other movies because he loves filming a scene over & over. It doesn't give the impression that SLB gives the actors freedom to do their part. Even if he does, ultimately a shot will be okay only when he approves that shot. If he didn't like her forzen face & glossy eyed acting, he could have disapproved of it. But he didn't. In fact, I had come across few behind the scene clips of Bajirao Mastaani in YT and I saw SLB going all "wow..." , "Beautiful!" etc etc over DP's straight faced "unone mera haath pakda zarur hai par apka chodha toh nahi, mujhse rishta jodha zarur hai par apse todha toh nahi" (I don't remember the exact dialogue 😆 it was the scene between DP & PC right before Pinga) and I was like....what? 😆😆
@ Bold: I don't know which OSO you are talking about, but to me it looked like DP had a more active role to play in that movie than she did in Padmavat, even though the latter one was the titular role 😆
I think she was amazing in dhoom taana as well
