Anubha and Akash could not say a word to each other when they pulled out of the gate

They acknowledged Raanav’s question with a nervous smile and complete bafflement.

“Is baat par bulaya aapne lunch par?” Akash smiled

“Oh no… he never told me… my sons are adults Mr Mathur, they don’t tell me everything”

“Umm.. does.. I am guessing its Viveka… or is NAINA?” Anu asked not hiding her pain

“Nope… its Viveka” Raanav smiled like he was really tickled

“DOES SHE KNOW?” Akash was shocked

“she does Mr Mathur” Raanav was up now, hands tucked into his pockets politely

“She is insanely smart, so I am teetering on the edge of rejection and I cant blame her” he smiled one of his glorious sparkling smiles

Anubha was visibly touched

She composed herself quickly

“Sabko khabar hai sirf hamey nahi Anu” Akash turned to his wife

“Please include me” Satyen reminded

“Haan haan” Husband and wife were too shocked to enjoy the humor

“Aapko?” Anubha hesitated

“Can you imagine, Viveka here… every day all days? Breakfasts, lunches and dinners will liven up”

“Thanks Dad” rakshit laughed

The young men were off to the side speaking softly

“Arey beta… Viveka is a tigress in her subject…. I don’t know what Raanav’s thinking”

“Thanks Dad” raanav mocked his father next

“Lekha Tandon… Tandon Steel waale, suna hai aapne?”

“Achha who jo Rourkela mein SAIL ki who run down steel mill khareedne waale hain?”

She turned to glance at raanav awkwardly

Akash walked over to Raanav”

“I appreciate the fact that you approached us” he extended a hand

“Did she… what did she say… did you… have you asked her?” Anubha asked

Satyen was just watching

“Tandon Steel ke level ka aadmi nahi hoon Bhaisaab” “In case you couldn’t tell” Akash joked

Anu cringed when she found her husband declaring their middle class status so openly

“Viveka se haan karwa dein aap” satyen muttered longingly

Akash didn’t have a good comeback for that

Anu drove without saying a word

They got home Viveka was taking a nap

When she woke at 7, akash made chai

“Aapke liye ek Rishta aa hai beta” he said pouring out her chai

“PAPAAAHHH” she scowled in a sleep drugged husky voice

“Suno to ek min”

“Uffff” No Papa” she shoved her glasses up her nose in frustration like she loved to when angry “I am going to go read Saturday Times”

“Naam nahi poochhogi?”

Anu was stuffing her suitcase on a sofa

Dadi was watching TV mumbling to herself

Dadu was testing his cast free foot in the balcony

“If his name is IIT Kharagpur then talk to me”

“His name is Raanav Parashar”

He was everything she did not need, want or expect

Are they going to get married?? I was as shocked as Anubha. The guy is so upfront and a true gentleman. But how will he woo Viveka and convince is mother??
