You have a very poor understanding of logic, your argument is that a foreign invention cannot become part of tradition in another culture because of it being foreign, if we follow this logic of yours, we would have to conclude that Buddhism cannot be considered part of East-Asian culture because Buddhism is a foreign invention, it is your faulty logic that's the problem here, but yeh, you carry on making stupid strawmans. 😆

Unfortunately for you, that's not whatshername claimed.😆 No matter how much spinning you do, when she mentioned Indology and distortion and Islamization, people can figure out she doesn’t know what the hell she's talking about.

But of course feel free to continue spinning away. Thanks to her uncontrollable urge to tweet, most of the world now knows her to be (to put it kindly) very much uninformed.

I can't stand bhakts but I really don't understand why fireworks are under fire (no pun intended) in India??

Fireworks are not a significant contributor to pollution. Using them one day out of the year really doesn't do much damage. Real pollution problems are causes by factories, industry, chemical plants and the burning of fossil fuels. Until they don't stop these polluters with laws and enforcement, India will remain dirty and polluted.

Nobody wants to solve real problems in India. The government definitely has no interest either. Everything is just a foolish social media campaign about silly things like fireworks. And yes, celebrities are a huge part of this stupidity. I can understand why people got mad at Virat for his lecture.

This is a distorted argument for argument’s sake stoked by Kangana to get attention - like most of her “arguments”.

One perfectly reasonable side: We have celebrated Diwali with fireworks our whole lives and can’t even imagine Diwali without fireworks.

On the other perfectly reasonable side: We believe there are problems with fireworks we should seriously consider especially since fireworks were not a part of the festival when it started and people joyously celebrated Diwali without fireworks far longer than we have celebrated it with them. Maybe, given the reality of today, we should start thinking about the real meaning of Diwali and recognize we can - and should - celebrate it without the rampant litter and pollution from fireworks.

Kangana : Diwali means fireworks and fireworks means Diwali. Therefore, people that don’t want fireworks are trying to destroy India and plotting against Hindus. Therefore we must destroy them first to protect ourselves. Oh and also Muslims, Hrithik, and KJo are probably to blame and anyway suck in general!!! And also I am the best thing ever to happen to India. I slay! You’re welcome, India.

What? My post has absolutely nothing to do with Kangana, I'm not sure why you thought I was defending her, I was talking about a specific claim regarding Diwali and fireworks.

But you still are a bit confused regarding what transpired on twitter. Kangana didn't mention Indology, she mentioned TrueIndology, a twitter account, whose account was suspended after he refuted the claims of the IPS officer, she then proceeded to abuse her power and have his account suspended, immediately after threatening him with "your time is up".

The IPS officer only said do not use crackers this year as corona is very high

many will die because of cracker pollution

factory pollution is highest but now production has reduced very much because of no demand

One or two years till vaccine comes everyone should be careful

Factory are usually in outskirts but crackers are burst in by lanes of crowded locality where many aged and sick live

Think of aged and sick this diwali their lungs will get damaged taking the cracker pollution

than if corona strikes they shall not live

This pandemic has come after 700 years last was 13th century where 20 crore died

The real no of death and those impacted are tens of times higher than what UNO/who or any govt says

We will know real numbers after 20-30 years when an analaysis shall be done not now

So lets think of above 50 years and sick and stop not only bursting crackers but any other thing that may kill elders, sick around us

Thats what this iPS officer has said in tweet whats so wrong?

Any mature person who has some knowledge of pandemic and corona will listen to this officer

Even govts are saying do not burst crackers

Lets listen to our govts/police and doctors for two three years till vaccine comes atleast

Yes, let’s destroy the country, pollute it for future generations, let our fellow Indians who are sick suffer because of it in the name of Hinduism.

Things that are cultural don’t necessarily have to do with religion.

Hinduism is not about harming others or anyone. It’s about paropkar. Burning crackers has become cultural and it still doesn’t have to do anything with religion.

" Importation and heavy use of petroleum coke, for example—a fuel that is far more polluting than coal—from countries like the USA that have banned it due to pollution concerns should be discouraged. But until carbon taxes are extended to petroleum coke as well as coal, the dependence on high polluting fossil fuel will never end (Lancet, 2017)." I remembered reading this as part of some research I was doing for my Social Sciences in Medicine course. Basically, the Indian gov't banned firecrackers to act as though they were doing something and hide the facts like the use of this extremely polluting substance, which they continue to use (or at least did as of 2017). They import something from the USA that was literally banned from use because it was too dangerous, as though India doesn't already have so many dangerous pollutants in the air with all the vehicular traffic, crop stubble burning, etc.
