Episode 3
Nothing too khaas in this episode, but there were a few scenes I enjoyed.
"Chai Peeogi?": Loved the first scene between Radha and Anaru. Again, we saw a different side of Anaru. For the first time, she really hinted to the fact that she is very much indebted to Ammu and her family. I loved the acting and character portrayal here. Her expressions were perfect. A bit of resentment, mixed with pain and a tinge of responsibility. It was awsome. For some reason, I feel she thinks Ammu perhaps doesn't realize what she means to her or that maybe Ammu doesn't love her the same way she loves Ammu. And she's definitely very very bitter about Shefali. Ammu means a lot to Anaru, so she is bitter towards Shefali for causing Ammu all this pain. Anyway, lovely scene between Radha/Anaru...I feel the two are slowly beginning to connect.
Sheher Sabko Badal Deta Hai : They keep repeating this. I sense some foreshadowing here. I have a feeling the three girls will really change over the course of the show. Radha has said multiple times now how much this city changes people; I think we'll see grave/drastic changes in the girls - but of course, they'll hold on to the same values...kind of like what we saw in Jassi.
Saraswati Mata: Loved the scene where Ruchi drags Ragini to go pray. I love the murati. This scene was great - it really shows how different these two sisters are. Ruchi outright doesn't care what anyone thinks of her and our Ragini obviously is worried about the fact that everyone is looking at her. But the great thing here is, while Ruchi is immersed in prayer, Ragini too realizes the importance of God and Prayer, but she just can't seem to force herself to fold her hands with everyone watching. Dil se iraade ekdum saaf hai, par sabke samne self-concious ho gayi thi. I think this scene was just brilliant.
Ragging: How annoying! Do people in college in India really act so dumb and annoying?!?! Anyway, loved how the girls sang "hum ko mann ki shakti dena" And also, I really like how they always stick together and stick up for one another. As a side note, is it just me or does Adi look too old for Ruchi? The way they are right now, they seem to me more like brother and sister. She looks and acts so young compared to him. And GOD is he annoying! Is he supposed to be flirting with her? If so, he's not doing a very good job of it. Typical popular cool-dude at school - I don't blame Ruchi for "hating" him. Did you notice though, that ever time he comes close to her, her breathing changes...as if she's afraid of his closeness...jaise vaqai mein usko "ishq vishq pyar vyar" ho jaayega...its a new ehsaas she's never felt before.
"Khud Par.": Yakeen. I just love the dialouges. So very well written.
"Pankh": Again, wonderful dialouge. I love this scene between Radha/Rohini where Rohini is questioning her talent and her mom gives her th encouragement she needs. Radha's character is just beautiful. Very much a real portrayal of a woman, and mother. Strong, poised, and self-sacrificing. I could go on and on praising the character sketches.
"Gabrah Mat": Rohini's relationship with Chutki. In this scene, where Chutki calls Rohini and tells her about her admission, I really sensed that Rohini felt fully responsible for Chutki. It really seemed to me like Rohini was her mother, instead of Radha. Not that I think Chutki sees Rohini as her mother - she's infact very much a momma's girl and clinging to Radha's pallu at all times; however, I do think that Rohini truly believes that Chutki is her daughter - moreso than little sister (unless it one in the same - which also makes sense). I don't know if I like this so much...this really came across in the particular scene where Rohini first finds out Chutki was not admitted. Maybe it was distasteful because perhaps Mona is over-acting a little here? I really couldn't tell if she was overacting or if she really is supposed to have such strong motherly feelings towards Chutki. For some reason though, this really bothers me.
Gini's "baat" with Bhagwan: Incredibly Hillarious! She reminds me of me! I loved the way she was ranting to Saraswati Mata about the "gadbad", but then remembered to respectfully say "please" and "sorry". Gini is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. She's definitely my favorite sister.
Anirudh: Good Guy. I like him. Definitely wouldn't mind one of the girls linking up with him.
Sticking Together: Again, the oneness of the three. I love how they are in everything together. The rest of this episode was just that. The girls, being there for one another, giving each other strength and encouragement. Great element.
Mr.Seth: I knew this dude would turn out to be Adi's dad. It just had to be - afterall, its an Indian soap. Anyway, I'm glad that he took to the girls so well. I think even later in the show, he will come in handy and be supportive/helpful if and when they should need. He seems to be genuinely nice.
Ok, Thats it for this one...wow, that was short and sweet...probably the shortest katha I've written 'til date...This episode was definitely just a plot/character/background builder. I enjoyed it because it gave me more insight into each character, but other than that, nothing too special about it.
More to come...
