Eh this is a legit law procedure used by everyone and not just rich people throwing money at lawyers. Defamation suits are always filed with such expensive amounts. And why shouldn't they? Someone on social media say anything without complaining to police and tagging someone as a pimp/into sex trade which is illegal and you expect them to shut up and not file expensive lawsuits for the defamation?

Defamation suites are not expensive. I had used this law to shut my first work place for spreading lies and rumors. Only the name of IPC 499 by my lawyer made them to give me a written apology. I am a middle class girl.

This law scares anyone.

The very reason Payal Ghosh gave an unconditional apology after saying I won't apologize to anyone 😆 Yep the very reason even the biggest publications use blinds, defamation cases scare everyone and funnily not many actually know that such suites exist so they write and spread whatever crap they want on social media thinking it's 'social media' lekin jab someone files for defamation in sab ki phatt jaati hai 😆

Just coz we don’t like the Bhatts or they are controversial, doesn’t mean every ounce of rumor is true. They have a right to defend as much as the opposite party has a right to file a case.
