Aniruddh could not take his eyes of the girl. She was a beautiful girl, indeed, with a face that had the innocence of a baby, but he Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury had seen many alluring women in his life, but never felt drawn to any, so why he felt so taken by her?
Aniruddh touched his Kakiya's feet who was already up on her feet to hug 6 feet 3 inches Sonai Baba, and then she kissed his tired forehead...
"Amar Bukku Sona, Amar Sonai Baba... Kab ayaa re tu? Bataya kyu nahi Truncall pe ke tu aa raha hai... Tere liye Chingri Bhaape aur Ilish Patudi banati phir. Kitna tired lag raha hai Sonai Baba. Baith ja babai..." Chayanika Devi fussed over the apple of her eyes.
Aniruddh just made her sit on the chair near the fireplace and sat at her feet and kept his head on her lap, his eyes closed, all the tiredness and the stress from fighting and winning a lengthy case and then catching his flight and reaching home was gone the moment his head touched his Kakiya's lap. He could hear her ordering food and warm water. All things he required to Batuk and Som both. Both of them knew he will talk to nobody till he was not properly pampered by his darling Kakiya. He didn't even open his eyes to look at the happenings. Chayanika Devi ran her fingers through his thick hair, while telling Som to call the barber to give her Sonai Baba a good shave.
"Kakiya, bhuk nahi hai... abhi naha ke so jau? Kal subah hi kha paunga ab toh main..." Aniruddh added lowly.
"Na beta, tu ankh band karke lete rehna beta. Main khila dungi tujhe, dekhna tujhe pata bhi nahi lagega. Khali pet nahi sote beta. Thoda sa... bas 12 ande jitna khaana." said his Kakiya, and Ani smiled, he thought "Kakiya, his Kakiya, aaj bhi ghode ka anda, chidiya ka anda, haathi ka anda bol ke khilati hai, aise jaise aaj bhi main 2 saal ka sonai baba hoon.
Ghanto titli, tota, chadai pakhi dikha ke khana khilati thi. Hum teen bhaiyyon ka pet bharne ke liye hazaro rang jodti, indradhanush sajati thi, pakhshiyo ko bulati hai aur kabhi HALOOM BABA ke naam se darati bhi thi... Shayad kuch cheezein aisi hi hoti hai, jo kabhi nahi badalti!"
After sometime he opened his eyes, and found the girl still standing in the shadows of the fireplace looking at him and his Kakiya's hand still on his head. It felt as if she was seeing something profound, enlightening and empowering. Who was she?
So he asked in light-hearted teasing tone, "Kakiya, yeh Bhootni kaun hai?"
Bondita's eyes went round and she immediately bowed her head. Chayanika pulled his hair lightly and smiled, "Boka Chhele (buddhu ladka), Bhootni kaha se lagti hai meri Boni... Yeh meri Boni hai... Kuch din huye humare saath rehne aayi hai. Tere mannat ke liye Kali Mandir gayi thi wohi mujhe chakkar aagaya. Bondita ne nahi sambhala hota toh sar phat ke wahi mar jati main..."
"KAKIYA!!," Aniruddh raged, "Aaj se agar maine aapko upavas karte dekha toh main khana peena chhod dunga humesha ke liye. Kitni baar bola maine, mere liye aapka aur Kaka ka ashirwad kaafi hai. Nahi lekin aapko bete ki baat maan ni hi nahi hai. Phir BP low hogaya hoga... Kakiya mujhe kuch nahi khaana. Main apne kamre mein jaa raha hoon. Aap apna dhyan jab theek se rakhengi tab hi khana khilaiyega ab... "
Aniruddh was about to walk out, when Trilochan walked in. Ani stopped and bowed down to touch his feet but his face was still frowning.
"Oho! Toh Rajputtur ne farmaan jari kar diya. Yahi sahi hai, meri toh tum sunti nahi, Chinu. Ab tumhare Rajputtur ne hungama kiya hai toh ab toh tumhe baat maan ni hi padegi." said Trilochan Roy Chowdhury, half taunting and smiling a bit....
