Chapter 2

Author’s p.o.v.

It was another tiring day for Jodha. She laid on her bed after reaching the room.

After sometime, her grandmother enters her room to talk about something important but founds her sleeping.

Softly smiling at Jodha she went towards her bed and sat beside her. She was about to cover her with quilt but to her surprise Jodha moved closer to her and laid her head on her lap.

Seeing her antics Sumitra (grandma)smiled softly and started caressing her hairs slowly.

Jodha smiled in her sleep feeling her grandmother besides.

After sometime Sumitra was about to getup but halted in her way sensing that someone was holding her hand, it took no time or her to understand whose hand it was. She again sat down and looked at her confused.

“Weren’t you sleeping dear”? she asked Jodha softly.

“No grandma, I was just tired and was about to get up but feeling your hand caressing my hairs..i didn’t have heart to get up” she said.

Sumitra smiled at her.

“As you are already woke up, so I am bringing your food here also I want to share an important matter with you.” Sumitra said, and Jodha nodded her head.

Sumitra went to take food and Jodha made her way towards washroom to get fresh.

“Now tell me grandma, what you wanted to share with me”? asked Jodha, while eating her dinner.

“First finish your meal dear, then we will talk” Sumitra said.

Pouting innocently at her grandmother she said,

“See I have already finished half of the plate. I can’t eat anymore, I am full.”

Sumitra signaled her towards her plate and said,

“I don’t that half plate thing, I just want this plate empty, understand?”

Finding no way, Jodha smiled nervously and finished her meal with difficulty.

“Now tell me ma, I am done with my food”said Jodha.

Sumitra nodded her head in a positive way.

“Tomorrow, a great business man is coming to visit our orphanage, he is a kind hearted person..so along with orphanage donation he is also giving some money for us…

She paused a little and the continued,

So I was thinking that from that money,you can go to Paris for your studies…am I right”? she explained this all to Jodha calmly.

“But ma, I don’t want to go beside if Father comes here to take me then”?

“I will not go to Paris.”

Jodha said while her voice choked with the mention of her father. On the other side, hearing the word ‘father’ Sumitra felt a gush of guilt ran through her chest.

Sumitra’s p.o.v.

“I wish…I could tell you that your father is no more….!”

“I wish that I can tell you that your father will never return..!!

“I wish I could”

“Ohh god! What I have done….!!!”

End of p.o.v.

“Ma, are even listening to me..? I said I will not go to Paris” Jodha’s voice brought Sumitra back from her thinking session.

“Understand dear, if your father comes to know that you rejected the scholarship he will feel bad dear. Will he be happy”?saying that she went out of her room.

Looking at the door, she smiled and made her mind to go to Paris and make her Grandma and Father proud of her.

Jodha, made her way towards her grandma’s room and knocked it.

“Come in dear” she heard her grandma saying.

“Jodha? What are you doing here at this time? You should sleep now, it’s already 12 dear” she said.

“I was going to sleep, but forgot to tell you that I have made my mind to go to Paris for completing my education” saying this Jodha left to her room leaving her grandmother smiling at her.

Sumitra’s p.o.v.

“May god fulfill your all wishes dear!”

“May god give you strength to face the bitter truth”

“Ohh god, till now I was beside Jodha to protect her, to support her..but now my life is about to end..i beg you god,please send someone in her life who will protect her from evil!”

“Sorry Jodha, I will not be there to welcome you dear”

Sumitra tried to sleep but the guilt and pain in her heart was too much. Which didn’t allow her to sleep.

Life is not bed of roses. We think we can get things easily. But we forget that, to gain something we have to loose something…

Jodha thought that after completing her education she will come back as a winner, but little did she know for that shehas to sacrifice one, who is dear to her heart.

Her grandmother thought that by hiding the truth she did right. But she doesn’t know that her beloved Jodha will comeback with a broken heart and in that situation, she will face the two bitter truth of her life..
