they felt they had found thier soulmates —- age meant test of time is needed . And they failed the test - and this hurts
It doesn’t mean they are not soulmates — and I guess that’s the whole point. So much trauma but they will help each other heal :) and have a happily ever after
Yes, they both felt they had found their soulmates...it sounds cliched because supposedly at that age, most teens think they've found true love....but it wasn't really that way with these two. The way they talked through every little thing together....their hopes, their dreams, their worries....all of it had a sense of a connection beyond their years. They both had recognized the depth of their connection and that feeling of being two halves of one soul....it didn't sound cliched when they said it cuz their emotions were depicted so genuinely in the story.
The problem isn't just that they failed the test....they wouldn't be the first set of lovers to fail a test....lol....the problem is how that failure happened. Usually for trust to break, there has to be a believable lapse from either side.....here, Shravan didn't do ANYTHING....he didn't even utter any word that could be misinterpreted and it was like Suman just ran a truck over him for being an innocent bystander.....that is where the imbalance is.
It is mainly Suman that failed them first....and then came the age factor.....Shravan who has always been a sensitive and super emotional soul took her words to heart....maybe if he had been older and wiser, he may not have....but to hear it from her at that age when his heart was still so tender, shattered him.
This doesn't mean that Suman's trauma is not understandable....but the turn of events is such that she punished Shravan for something he never said or did. Still, the only way they can heal is together....so yes, that is what we are waiting to see unfold in the story.

It was to show off Sumo
He really was enjoying baiting her and then rubbing salt to the wound by asking why are you so interested in knowing about me
