Others may give the child love....grand father loves her but grand mother not.....

Does this impact the child??

And to answer your question, the grandparent or father etc not liking a child is not classified as abuse in itself, but their actions stemming from their dislike might constitute abuse. For eg if the father constantly belittles the child or ignores them, then it can be called as emotional abuse or neglect. If the grandparent favors one grandchild over another it is yet another form of emotional abuse called discriminatory abuse.

Unfortunately, in India all this goes unrecognized because of the type of parenting styles that we as a society follow, and that has been passed on from previous generations. I know modern day parenting in India is vastly different, but Indian children sometimes, I feel lack emotional support because they are told to chin up and not brood, and take it like a man (in case of boys) or just forget it ever happened. This can be due to societal conditioning and fear of acceptance, and can lead to a lot of mental health issues later in life.

It is not because of parenting styles....as as society, we force people to marry and have kids irrespective of what they like...may be that forces them to all these problems...

Yeah, and if you’re married they hound you to have children even if you’re not ready. That’s exactly my point about societal expectations in India being such that you feel the need to conform to be accepted with parenting, marriage, children whatever. Except the really privileged ones, society weighs heavily on others, and makes these heavy handed judgments that make it hell for people who want to follow their own path.

It’s easier in western society when you’re not judged as much.

There if you don't like any member, you can disassociate with them but that is not possible here...that adds to frustation...

I don’t know. Maybe Ryan needs to do that himself for him to get his confidence back. But we’ll see how Sara might be involved....

Yes, Sara and Ashutosh need to talk, but right now I’m focusing on Sara and Nidhi bonding, since Sara is already thawing towards her!

He could! I think he needs something more self-affirming right now. He needs to feel that he is wanted, loved and respected for what he does. Not just for his looks. Even with Sara he does not know that. The attraction is there, sure, but like he says in the last chapter, he wants to be with someone who’s with him for him, and not for how he looks. Is Sara there yet? That remains to be seen.
