Well I'm trying to make the story a little more specialized, and I did not mean it to allude to my work specifically. The Sharmanya universe is slightly broader.
I feel many children are abused in childhood in some way......father may not like a child or grand mother may not be happy with the grand daughter....do you consider that as abused?
Others may give the child love....grand father loves her but grand mother not.....

Well, everything impacts the child but the lack of one stable, adult influence on the child affects them the most, continuing into adulthood.
What I have learned is that children can be resilient and can overcome even the worst situations with no permanent outcomes if they have this one person to rely on at the most stressful of times. Leave a child to deal with stress on their own, and there's no telling how it will affect them into adulthood. They can survive scenarios like loss of a loved one if they have one parent that is a loving, stabilizing influence. IPV and neglect however seem to account for most cases of child abuse, at least here in Canada.
