And you're right, it not raabta more a kind of proving to themselves and the world.

This has always been the case with AnuYani, always. Since the beginning of the show, they have always overcompensated to prove that they are not the stepmother. In a way, I do understand. People were ruthless to them and all the comments they made, society is such that they do value blood above all else sometimes.

In this case, I do believe Kalyani has been in denial for the past 5 years. I bet she has been fixated on finding Pillu, that's why she became a DM. That's why now she is stuck in life, unable to move on or get over anything.
