What if Mahadev broke Aakesh's soul into 2 and put them in 2 different people who are twins? And 1 twin has Aakesh's evil side and the other has his goodness. If you think about it, the Veer that we are all familiar with, so far he has done nothing that's bad or evil. The only bad thing he did was to humiliate Noor on her wedding day in front of all the people but in his mind he was saving a friend from an unfaithful gold digger. Yea he drinks and wears a lot of black clothes but neither of those are evil things.

Maybe Balwant saw how one of the twins was clearly more evil/psychopathic than the other and thought that must be his son Aakesh because he only saw him as a ruthless warrior/lootera. And he locked him up since then to protect him from the light? But there was always more to Aakesh than being a crazy, ruthless killer type.

I also believe we have so far never met Veer's twin, I believe he has been locked in his room this entire time - I know some people think that the one we saw going to the Mandir and saving Bani from the blast was the twin but I believe he has been locked up since forever (which has to have messed with his mind more as well)
