Maharastra mein aaj kal koi bhi pooja batate hai other then brahmin log..hamare yaha to ab female prist bhi hai..pehele nahi tha dhire dhire libral ho gaye hai..lekin jo pooja batate hai voh non veg nahi khate..woh sab follow karate hai jo bahmin karate hai pooja batane vale.irony yeh hai ki jo asal.mein bahaman hote hai woh aaj kal non veg pe toot padate hai eggs,chicken,meat..kuch bhi...specially mumbai pune ke..sab kuch ulata ho raha hai...shadi ka mausam sarvpitri amavasya tak nahi nikalate...hinduon mein sade tin muhurth rehete hai jaisi ki akshay trutiya fir dahshera n diwali ka padava(woh kalma n anusar ki tel lagane ki pratha)to dahsherein se shadi ka season normally star hota hai

And kaka performed marraige as he said he taught him mantra and Vedas

haan yeh baat bhi hai, non brahmins don't wear sacred threads we call it 'yagno pavitham' it is worn after ritual of 'upanayanam'

and yeh bhi sahi hai ki bhrahmins don't eat non veg and mallu did ask kallu to cook fish.

and Maharashtrian bhrahimns ke bhare mein i don't know much. so i have no clue of rane and Deshmukh surnames.

Gayu, hamare Yahan, matlab TN me non brahmins wear sacred thread during either their wedding or while doing shrardh.

But I get what you mean and why. In south Non brahmins generally never conduct wedding or shrardh and here in the show HarThak did both.

humare yaha only brahmins wear it woh be in very young age, maximum of 15-16 years. mere bhai ka bhi hona baaki hai abhi. he is 12 years old.

Yes I'm a Brahmin too.. Ye ritual Upanayanam they do it for boys at young age especially when their age is in odd numbers.

I have attended weddings of my friends who are not Brahmins and learnt from them that they wear the Janevu (sacred thread) during these special occasions or occasions when they are offering last rites.. Only for those times..

Rane is mainly from konkan reagion jo bohot machhi khate hai...m not shure lekin Maharastra mein other kuch cast mein janau pehanate hai...pata nahi thik se but suna hai...deshmukh mostly jo jamindar sardar hote hai gav sube ke..yeh ek padavi hai jaise goan ka deshmukh...jaise aaj kal goan ka sarpanch hota hai...yeh shayad shivaji maharaj ke time se shuru ho gaya...jabhi koi ladhai jitakar aaten then to kabhi kabhi unako goan ki jimmedari ya reason ki jimmedari soupi jati thi to usamein se yeh surname aa gaye like deshmukh,patil,kulkarani,mahajan,etc
