It’s a good article. He also mentions saving of money and I don’t think Sidharth meant frugal living, did he? I think he didn’t. He is speaking in the sense that one should now be prepared to sustain oneself if one goes out of work for a long span of time, god forbid, but that is what he means by saving money. So, save than waste it. Otherwise, to set the wheels in motion we need people to spend for money to go around and industries to run and produce and people to again have more purchasing power etc. It’s a cycle, eh? But I think he means saving with forethought to the future than taking jobs and careers and wages for granted. Agree.

Uma,

Congratulations on new thread. I am always late to say that :) Loved your write up as always. šŸ’–

I too am obsessed with Sana's voice.

I love all shades of her but Sana the singer the most,

I have all her singing clips saved on insta which are not proper mv

Ruh ko chu jane wali awaj thats how I find her singing voice. I dont know somehow it touches some untouched part of one's soul n very few voices have had that impact on me.

Virah in bandish bandit by shankar mahadevan is another such sort of voice to gives you goosebumps.

I have a lot saved on Insta by folder šŸ™ŒšŸ˜†

I also don’t know what it is in her voice and her slow renditions- grips at the heart and feeds the soul.

You are so my sorta gal... Virah...seriously. What is it?! Uffff! 😳 Not watching/hearing Bandish Bandits is a loss I would say.

Daily Discussion Threads: The filthiest and most insensitive of places on India forums for BB every season šŸ™„ I don’t go there at all whether I fall in majority or minority fan groups. Consider it BB written world.

I don’t follow Snookers at all, but do follow billiards- have been a fan of the game since the times of the greatest of competition between Geet Sethi and Mike Russel and now there’s Pankaj Advani. But have never played a table. Like never šŸ™

Sam DDT was the daily discussion thread I think. Where every episode was discussed and disected But this time it was more of sid bashing thread.

It was really intense and vicious.

Exactly. Times r tough. Economy is not doing good. So one shld spend wisely. If u have money, better upgrade ur skills. Spending on luxuries shld not be priority even if u r a star . One shld see the long road ahead.

I am so lucky in sense that I have a desk job and I work from home without any hassles. Plus since i am in financial services sector my job is secure as of now. In fact I an working more in this lockdown since markets r very volatile these days

Other industries r not doing so good. And that includes entertainment industry also

You are lucky, touchwood. In India, the financial sector has been safe. Touchwood. In other countries, we have branches of even international banks and exchange houses closing down coz of a large shift to online banking and branches are literally shorn of physical customers. Even Banco Santander has shut down some branches. So the situation is grave. And so yeah, prudent spending for sure, but spending is a must. If people don’t spend we’ll go into deeper recession. Spending is essential in times of volatility. Just not luxury like you said, especially if on facility.

Uma not sure what your line of work if but you are sounding just like my macro economics professor - spending is important. But I guess Sid’s stance in the article is maybe to be prudent towards consumerism. But one thing that is heartening is the support for local...lockdown has made us a bit more emphatic and I have noticed that people want to support small business’s and start ups now instead of only opting for cheaper options

My line of work can best be described as eggs in a couple of baskets šŸ˜† and applying skills and knowledge to market/community requirement. And yes, Sidharth is likely speaking about consumerism coz he has seen colleagues struggle with EMIs and bills from reckless spending. And I completely agree that we are now thinking in terms of SMEs and we are beginning to see our growth in local and national growth. It’s not just about brand or cheap versions any more. And there’s interest in investing towards these too. Our minds as a community is growing in a very wise direction in terms of supporting the economy and inadvertently ourselves. That wisdom is setting in and I hope it continues to do so.
