Frankly, I don't have any new hopes even if CBI takes over the case. Their record is not too great when it comes to solving controversial cases. Look at what they did in the Aarushi Murder Case! They handled it worse than the UP Police, slandering a dead child's name in the mud and leaking out every detail of their investigation to the media. The CBI Chief kept accusing the parents, even when the court acquitted them.

By the time, CBI enters the picture, it's already too late. They can only work on what they have in hand, rarely can they get hold of any new evidence. That is why the first investigation team's work is the most important, because they are the ones to collect hard evidence like forensics, DNA samples, eye-witness testaments ect...stuff that can actually be presented in court. Now when the CBI takes over the case, they will most likely be relying on whatever the Mumbai Police Investigation team presents to them. The only new thing they can do is interview the witnesses once again and try to corroborate the events with their testimony.
