Absolutely! I used to buy ADC just to read Busybee's take on various issues . Somehow he very much reminded me of PG Wodehouse style of writing. Similar subtle "olde worlde" humour. After his passing away I stopped reading it because other than his Round and About piece on the last page it used to be a very standard tabloid. It shut down almost a year back I think.

Behram was a gourmet and many of his pieces dealt with the various good food places in and around Mumbai. His knowledge about the nooks and crannies of Mumbai was unbelievable.

His wife Farzana Contractor started a good magazine called " Upper crust "... Busybees two books are available as a compilation of all his articles since 1963 ...His one particular article on dried bombay duck and toddy stands out ...Sachin Tendulkar had once commented I can feel Busybees presence through his writings...

Apart from this, I think many renowned and illustrious journalists like MV Kamat , AR Kannangi , VK Kapoor , and our very own pramod Navalkar used to write centre page articles in the newspaper...

Talking of PGW , his use of metaphors and hyperboles on trivial behavioural aspects was unparalleled and he would delightfully take it to the extremes at times ...Busybee was more light and subtle .... However I agree his range of humour on topics right from Breach candy to farmhouse in Alibaug was superb...

Sadly, they don't make writers like them anymore...

Yes the combo of midday ADC was great especially it would fill up the time in a virar or borivali bound fast train...😀Plus if you remember Bejan daruwala and jagjit uppal used to write those astrological.predictions right next to cartoons ( pun intended) 😀

It's very nice to hear about your mom. Very few Indian women are 'financially literate'. And Maharashtrian women even less. Thanks to my brother, I knew about IPOs and stocks at a very early age.

My mother worked as a banker most of her life n after voluntary retirement esp working in fort area with sharebrokering mania thr she got hooked into it. So now o lord mon- fri its like a curfew in our house india she is busybee with phone calls 😂
