Oh God, not that same old whining again by Chetan! I have read the 5 point one book. It was absolute trash...halfway through the book, the story meandered really bad. I didn't connect with any of 3 characters. It was more of him desperate to sleep with the principal's daughter, then bragging on how he slept with her and then left her. #1 writer in india . If movie had been faithful to the book, people would have trashed the movie.

Raju Hirani borrowed the premise of 3 characters, principal, one guy courting his daughter and engineering college; but the story of 3 Idiots was drastically different from Chetan's book. So if he didn't write the screenplay, he doesn't deserve any recognition at awards. If any of his books was really that good, it should have won at least 1 award somewhere on its own merit.

He's a pro at creating constant drama, couldn't stand his shenanigans on nach baliye...really wonder how people stand him in real life.

Is that so? Wow...I am not aware of this at all...Even though they kept saying they only took the premise of the book and changed a lot of the in between stuff, I believed only in Chetan...See this is what it is..We all tend to believe the under dog, I guess! 😕

It’s arguable but anyone who read the book will say.most of the scenes in the film aren’t in the book...the whole rancho being a proxy for someone else and getting a degree for them isn’t in the book, no chatur, no flashbacks...the book version of aamirs char is just a different thinking rich guy who ends up getting the lowest scores and no jobs...

The basic char backgrounds and outlines of the 3 guys and bebo are similar to the book...also the suicide incident and the stealing paper incidents are in the book.

Rest all is completely diff...

Look at Salman, most of his films are destroyed by all these critics, but he doesn't give a damn about them. He should the same.

The book and movie don’t match. I, unfortunately, bought into the hype and read his book. The book is not even mediocre and I’ve read some of the worst ones out there.

3 idiots is a superior product than his stupid book. Also, VVC is an a$$hole.

Wasn’t he at one point judging dance shows? What was his qualification?

I think Chatur’s character was a master touch and made all the difference...

I haven’t read the book so totally oblivious of the truth and didn’t care too much to fact check but simply believed in Chetan’s version of the story...Good to stand corrected!

From what I've heard, there's more similarities than differences, the template of the movie is based the book, the movie builds on top of this, and they made a few other minor changes. It was just shameless of the movie makers to try and get away without crediting Chetan, and when they did include his name, it was in small print in the end credits, where the audience would've left before his name even appeared.

so right now in this forum, anyone who speaks out against the toxic systemic bullying in Bollywood get mocked, sneered and called talentless?
