The reason is simple Grace. The story cannot move forward without Anurag or Prerna being butchered. There's no love triangle or quadrilateral or whaetevr if anupre are not made to do silly things or handle the problems in their lives in the most ridiculous ways. How will Bajaj come into Prerna's life if Anurag doesn't do something to push her out of his life? As long as Anurag is there, she's never even going to look at another man. Same goes with Anurag and Komolika. It all comes back to AnuPre. Hence they're always butchered.

The only 2 people who don't get butchered are Komolika and Mohini. 😆

Hope..... If we put the innumerable times Anu and Pre was butchered on a scale, the one on Pre's side will go down. From the start of the show onwards, Pre was CVs favorite punching bag. It's my love for Eri, Pre's selflessness and the certain scenes where Eri gave some exemplar performances that kept me supporting Pre. But that is not the case with Anurag. Time to time, Anurag had been given proper character buildup with him understanding Pre even when her family didn't, him not even bothered about his life even after Naveen Babu attempted to murder him, him guilt-ridden after not being able to save Komo from drowning, having pleasant interactions with Kuki, Maasi & Tanvi even when he couldn't stand Mr. Bajaj etc etc. He was butchered only when EK wanted to show her favorite as Mahan. And when she saw her choti moti attempts were not working, she decided to go with the most illogical plot, thinking that all AnuPre fans would jump the other side in the blink of an eye. It's when she saw the numbers she needed was dropping, that she had to immediately show all those Anu-Komo FBs justifying Anu's act. Iraada nek tha tho she would have shown these FB scenes before the act itself with some more convincing scenes like Anu consulting a lawyer on how Pre could be saved and Anu arranging for divers to save Pre, if she was so particular in choosing this way to dramatise Anu pushing Pre away forever. Which shows how fair her intentions was!!!.

Coming to the current behavior of Bajaj with Kuki, it is just to build up a reason for Kuki-Kaushik angle which will lead to the next set of problems between the Basus & Bajajs. The reason why I don't see Bajaj's behavior as character butchering.

I have exact opposite issue. no matter how other char are butchered including Bajaj, at least they retain there traits. they dont act like someone else. prerna was forever confused, she still is. Anurag was shown to be forever sacrificing, and guilt he still is. but they speak the same way, reacts the same way. i agree with new people stepping in a few changes are expected (same was for Komolika- i find her better than before) but how come a char who was a man of few words doesnt stop now. when did being expressive became a synonym of being talkatkive. when did being distant and strict become same as being rude and ignoring. when did he become so weird that he has all time to lecture others on family and love be it sharmas or prerna but khud ke daughter ke liye wo sab yaad nahi rehta. if he had behaved like this with her without the entire sharma clan tab bhi samajhta. so its not just about butchering because thats normal and usme bhi char apni tarah hi behave karta tha. ab to char hi badal gaya. bolna sochna to nahi change hota. this is my personal pov, i felt bad when he did that mask stunt but it still looks better than seeing some other char on screen. more than the.characterisation and the arc its the portrayal which is hurtful to digest for me personally. i feel anyone watching a butchered Anurag with his traits intact is in a better positon than me who is struggling to see a glimpse of RB - butchered or unbutchered.

The only reason I can give you is, it is just to build up a reason for Kuki-Kaushik angle which will lead to the next set of problems between the Basus & Bajajs......Just like how EK wanted to dramatise Bajaj's entry as Pre's savior, she went with that illogical bridge act.....something which, till now many of us couldn't accept and still feel sympathetic for Anu, even after knowing that what he did was wrong.

I agree, bajaj was indifferent to his daughter and that totally goes against the emotions he had towards his daughter When she could not speak. He married a stranger Prerna for his daughter , and now nothing.

Very bad story writing and direction. KP acts very well l its the directors fault.
anyways Am now watching kzk with No strong emotions.

Like bajaj and anurag equally now 😱.

Just watching this show as a mindless entertainment , thats all.

Just give a good story now .

Bold- you said it. i have said the same thing that post lockdown each char is at the same level now. all are just confused. So all that made Bajaj diff is missing badly in new KDB version in my view. Cant connect 😒 and it hurts.

I will not like to comment of actor because I have not seen much of his work. But the char is definitely compromised I feel, whose mistake or willful wish I dont know that.
