I feel the same. It's just going to be one side love from his side, which will remain till the character exists.

It's clear, they are already concentrating on next generation love story.

His decision to quit is best. We got saved from the tourcher.

But one thing if the pandemic hadn't been there, he would have definitely continued no matter what. Ofc he would have had fought and done everything for the character and for the character to get justification, but then one character unfortunately can't help. It's a team work. The story overall needed to improve. Or else wohi hospital track, wohi jail track only for what? Ringa ringa roses we all move in circles.

They should have started working on the story from the hospital track itself. And they were I could see changes. Till the dance but again the writers flipped. Fine, we got the jail track. Things should have had started by then at the most but again flip. Like sometimes it felt very very very deliberately done.

The 5 months gap wasn't required at all. Maybe a two was enough. And the leap toh not at all. Even if leap was to be introduced the max to max 4yrs ka hona chahiye tha. Kuki at 8/9yrs old.
