Why did Sushant and Rajkumar Rao go on to have flourishing careers if they weren't as talented or less talented as him? Remember Sushant got good quality offers from people who value talent. Including the make of Dangal.

And you saying Sushant was not deserving of awards is your opinion. Ok then the year before that Vicky Kaushal with masaan and bombey velvet. Bombey velvet might have been a disaster but his performance recieved for more accolades than Sooraj's. Same goes for Masaan which released a Cannes. Look at where Vicky's career is compared to Sooraj's.

And the film worked because of the combination.. Sushant's performance and Dhoni too.. You cannot discard Dhoni's contribution.. It wasn't a wrongly spread notion.. The wrongly spread notion is that the movie worked only because of Dhoni when in truth both worked well for it

Im just saying that there seems to be a discrepancy on how the criteria is. Sometimes they give credit towards a carrying a film solely on your shoulders over amount of critical acclaim. Other times they give it the biggest grosser. Yes, Aamir was good but for Dangal to work the girls had to perform as well. Similarly in Barfi PC had the most challenging role. But they stated that the film worked because of Illeana and Ranbir's work too.

But did anyone say that Sanju worked because of controversial of a figure Sanjay Dutt is. I thought the intent behind spreading the notion was just malicious. The have been so many biopics made on famous people and not all of them have worked.

The performance and movie that gets more hype and critical acclaim usually wins and Dangal fulfilled both the criteria

I believe Barfi got more acclaim than Kahani. That was a pretty controversial debate over the awards that year. Yeah now I am being malicious here. But dont you think some of the hype was because Aamir himself was in the movie over a new comer three years old. Aamir has been here since the 90s.
