I love watching her cooking shows on Epic channel. Never miss them whenever I'm in Mumbai. She has a very likable personality and speaks as if she is your friend.

lockdown is extended till 30th june in india.

1.shoping malls,religious places ,hotels will open on conditions from 8th june.

2.200 trains will start from 1st june.

bt strict lockdown in containtement zones.

3.there is no need of any pass to go from one state to another state.

4.tulshibag in pune will start from1st june.

no of patients in mumbai today is around 1500.also mahim has become new corona hotspot.

if people can walk from one state to other state,dont they walk from one zone to other zone?

ha nakki lockdown ahe ki bhankas😆

I am talking about the root of the word " wadi " . it belongs to the family of words " Vadil" ," VadVadil " ," Vadiloparjit" which are all derived from some old word which was used to indicate the paternal or ancestoral person & his property. ( most possibly some Prakrut word used 1000 to 2000 years ago)

The current usage of " wadi " in marathi areas other than kokan is low & used like "village" e.g.- Narsobachi wadi or rather modern "kirloskarwadi". Earlier usage of " wada " in north kokan meant " place to keep cattle " while all over the "Desh" it meant a large house for people to stay !

Similarity of pronounciation does not mean the words have same roots & meanings. Arabic belongs to semitic family of languages while marathi belongs to Indo-Aryan (IA) sub-family of languages which is part of Indo-Europian ( IE )language family .

Marathi has lot of loan words from arabic , actually Arabic has borrowed lot of words from persian & Marathi has got some directly from persian ( due to it being official language for a long time ) . To add to the confusion Persian is part of Indo-Europian family ! This family has 52 languages from english to Bengali .

Also Marathi has borrowed a lot from Kannada , " Anna , tai & aai "all these word which denote the closest relatives are of Kannada origin . To clarify , this process is going on for centuries & all languages change over the time . So keep that time perspective in mind.

Curiously the word "mai" which means mother belongs to IE group . Mother , mom , maa, mater, matru are all evolved from a common ancestor word in IE. But the most used marathi word " aai" is of kannada origin !

BTW if one wants to read Marathi without arabic /persian words , read " Dnyaneshwari" . Composed around 1270 it has no influence of these langueges ( but kannada influnce is there). Except for a marathi scholar ,It is very difficult to understand the meanings of all the words . That is the change in Marathi over 750 years !

P.S - The urdu word " Waalid " meaning father sounds similar to Arabic " Waali" meaning governor or protector . Its derivative " wald" is used to denote fathers name . ( e.g in Sholey movie , courtroom scene " Gabbarsingh wald Harisingh " ). But the origin is persian & is used in the sense pf protector in Marathi . e.g " garibancha waali " . Is " Vadil " a derivation of " Waalid" ? not sure.

Confusing but interesting ! I hope this post may interest the readers to search more on the net.
