More power to her. Black lives matter has been going on for quite sometime now, but I guess the government only understands the language of violence. People from my childhood - white people - are so angry about the situation back home, it's crazy. The police has become nothing but a picture of thugs with a badge. Like, imagine, you're sitting in your own effing house and the police just brandish in and kill you. For no crime. 4th such reported racist incidence in two weeks. The Cooper guy was a Harvard graduate, so clearly, it's not about status. Just color.
As someone who's faced racism everywhere, Europe is so much better. Lived in Italy for 4 years without a single incidence of racism. 3 weeks of moving to USA, got racially attacked.
As for CAA protests, it's hard to choose sides when the issue is so politicized. There are people for and against the movement. While everyone is obviously not/acting not to be racist. Maybe it's because I'm from the majority, but I read through whatever info was given about it and failed to see its harm. Hindus are persecuted everywhere, so if being the only country with a Hindu majority, if we do give them an easy route to citizenship, it hardly takes away from the others applying. There are similar things happening in Israel or many Muslim majority countries, I think. I read about the people saying that it was a way to do away with Muslims, but the whole idea seems a perpetuated hoopla rather than reality. But again, saying that out loud simply makes me "right-wing" or "sanghi" which I try to avoid as I have never /do not plan on ever voting for BJP/RSS.
If there's something about it that I'm missing, please tell me. I'd love to be educated on the matter.
