WHO itself doesn't do anything research-wise. They may fund research conducted by other countries, but they're kind of like the UN in the sense that they don't actually have a lot of power they can enforce. Clinical trials take place in countries with their health departments and through pharmaceutical companies.

As far as trials go, as of April I think there are 500 or so clinical trials that have been registered in countries all over the world and that number is increasing . Some trials look more promising than others. It just takes some time, you need to recruit people to participate in these trials, and you have to space out your treatment.

Sorry I got kind of geeky there. The people doing their research are trying their hardest, it's just not easy considering health care in most (if not all) countries is one of the most underfunded departments.

Yeah i have knowlege about it. I know that not only developed countries even under developed countries are doing trials for corona.

Being a Microbiologist i do have information about it. I have an idea that how much time it takes. Its covid 19 which is only few months old, even there is no vaccine for HCV and many other viruses yet which is much older. Yeah antiviral drugs are there for HCV.

I might sounded unprofessional or immature but i am tired of this corona. I hope some miracle would happen soon. If not a vaccine, at least we will get antiviral drug for covid 19 pretty soon. We can hope for the best.

Nahi I get it, it's a hard time and I myself yo-yo between optimistic and frustrated. The optimism is more because I'm trying to keep my spirits up. You caught me at an optimistic time. In a way I need to believe that out of all the research being done, someone at least will be successful.

In the long run there has to be either a vaccine/ viable treatment because this lifestyle isn't sustainable. In some places the lockdowns have been eased, but everyone is also on standby that the lockdown will get stricter again if the numbers go up.

HCV is kind of different from Covid because like you said there are antivirals, but also theoretically you can control it's spread- so there's not really any money in it which is ultimately what the drug companies are about. With the way things are right now, everyone is in a race to develop the vaccine/cure, so this is more of a priority for all research.

But you're absolutely right that this is getting to be exhausting and we can only hope for the best. InshaAllah khair, I guess.
