Is she? Seriously? In that case, it’s going to be pretty tough on me.

Not that it should bother me since it is not Sidharth speaking. Anyway, it’s on Menstruating Women’s Entry issues for Sabarimala in Kerala. It’s a judicial issue currently and much has been written and spoken on it.

My entire extended family and I have been very active participants in the anti-feminist #ReadyToWait Campaign. Those who go to Sabarimala have a certain value system (Those who don’t know about the legend, google up- it’s widely documented). Feminists from outside Kerala and communists from Kerala, not to mention politicians and conversion lobbies trying to gain out of social unrest, had been trying to force menstruating women to enter the temple. It was literally riot in our temple and stampedes and political manipulations. It’s been two years since Kerala’s Hindus have seen peace. We had been on the roads. We have fasted, cried, been on the streets and lost sleep on many nights early last year. That is how close the issue is to the heart of Kerala.

These feminists have no idea of Tantra or tantric rituals or anything except rotten feminism. Sab woodworks se nikalke aate hai feminism ke jhande pakadke. This is just not about bhakti. It’s about meditative spaces, magnetic vibrations of the location and much much more, all very well scientifically documented. It is nothing as stupidly superficial like doesn’t your god like women like the speaker on the video makes it aboit! Ya toh she is absolutely ignorant or willfully deceiving the public. Infinitely Foolish anyhow. Playing with people’s sentiments. Period.

The Brahmakumaris, that Sidharth and his mother follow themselves have spoken strongly about how wrong feminists are to push the agenda and how the sanctity of Sabarimala needs to be upheld. Every South Indian temple has a certain discipline and speaking without knowing it is thoroughly hurtful and inflammatory.

I seriously hope this is not Sidharth’s sister and if she is, anyway, nothing to be done about it since as I said, it’s not Sidharth and I would like to imagine he respects exceptional and diverse practices and cultures and rituals.

O boy boy!

I have a completely different POV on this... I am a North Indian married to a Tamil Brahmin and this has been a hot topic at my place...

I think the POV depends on ones upbringing and the beliefs one has held from childhood...

IMHO, the Sabarimala case is being politicised for personal/party gains

I have not seen the video and neither I have too much knowledge about the Sabrimala issue...but I feel that Uma even if you try to give your point of view the other side will call it unscientific and ancient. What is missing in the world right now is respect for each other and our differences. I too would like to go to the temple but not by offending anyone and forcing my point of view on another. Having said that if we keep Sabrimala aside and look at menstruation in general...we need more voices that normalise it in India...there are weird practices followed in some places like keeping the person in isolation which need to be stopped or atleast debated on

I guess according to rules of CC forum, religion as such shall not be discussed which can cause any sort of strong disagreements or can hurt someone's sentiments.

I agree about taboos around menstruation in general and associated isolatory practices and especially at homes.
That said, if people don’t believe that ancient temples were constructed with design objective and by scientific models that examined texture and stone and location and direction and extensive other variables, nothing can be done about it 🤷‍♀️ But yes, like you said, how tough is to accord and expect respect? Live and let live. Simple. Why force entry? And prove what? And to what gain? Egoistic gain and a TV slot?

To equate general menstrual taboos of India with the ritual practices of ONE temple in Kerala by the modern feminist lexicon is the ludicrous part. The Brahmakumaris have spoken beautifully on the issue and coming from female spiritualists, it’s powerful.

Chalo, no more from me on this topic. It’s not the space for it. And Born Hyper, yes, point noted. For me, it’s about respecting regional customs and diversity at the end of the day. When in Rome, do as Romans do. Sabarimala is not the last bastion or something for people to cry revolution 🙄
