Kuch din pehle RWingers were saying how UT is spending money on PR to get BW stars to praise the Govt without ignoring how our central Govt too spends money on PR to get celebs to praise the govt and PM for their various initiatives. Koi doodh ka dhoola nahi hai. Sab ek thaali ke chatte batte hai.

Filmfare, IIFA all these require government funding on some level? I didn't know this. Like governments actually fight it out to get the shows in their state? Considering the dismal state of award show functions these days also the fledgling TRPs and non availability of sponsors I didn't think they were so lucrative.

No, Assam Govt had said the stay of celebrities and all were taken care by Filmfare , the govt spent abt 30 Cr of their tourism budget on Filmfare. Don't know about IIFA since it allready got cancelled. But like zoinks said, looks like outright corruption. Why would someone spend 700 Cr on a show that too in India.

Usually private award shows don't get any funding from Govt unless they are being conducted in that particular state/country. Afaik, only IIFA would get bidding of govts of different countries when they used to conduct internationally due to boost of tourism. I remember IIFA like Olympics would announce the the next country at the end of their show earlier so definitely bidding would happen.
