@bold- 🤣So relatable. I have noticed that I have this superpower where I can start watching an ITV show from any random episode and understand what the story is. Now you make what you want of it 😆
EK era- Even EK shows pre-2008 still had grey characters or 'questionable' things being done by the leads, like KZK's premarital pregnancy, PreMukti's love story etc. IDK why but after the K-serials shut shop, ITV has become even more orthodox.
As for my Meenu drabble, well, everyone needs love. In fact, I suggest that the foursome should find a dilwala for Meenu, who will give her a lunch box as she goes to office and gives her chai before her veena sessions. Parul will be freed.
Maybe Vibhuti from Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain.
@bold 1: Oh man, you have gotten me started on my favourite topic -- the evolution of ITV. 🤓 So I think that the early EK shows were more unashamedly modelled after soap operas and telenovelas. There wasn't really a strong plot, just characters who were moved around to create maximum drama. Then around 2008 came what I call the "social issue" renaissance of ITV, which I believe started with Balika Vadhu. There was a huge wave of shows about women who were victims of some social evil or the other and rose up against it. I think the peerless leads we see even today are a remnant of that era.
Around 2013-15, the popularity of Pakistani serials and their broadcast in India changed the visuals of ITV a lot. The looks and dialogues became far more naturalistic but a lot of the writing kept falling back on the old tropes because the show had to go on indefinitely. I observe a lot of shows and see how different PHs negotiate all of these variables.
@blue: I am so on board for Meenu getting some TLC. As I have said many times, Parul and Meenu were my first ship on this show. ❤️ They have a healthier partnership than all the older couples by far. That said, I would not object to them getting their own romances. Meenu can't be older than 60 and Parul might not even be 50 yet! There is plenty of time to live a more exciting life. 😉
@bold 2: Finally, a show I haven't seen 😆
