- If the saree thread hadn't been dropped, how could have it been continued (staying true to the characterization of KuKu, so it can't be some overly romantic cheesy lovey-dovey track)?

- I was going back and watching old KuKu scenes because I was REALLY bored. You know the scene where Kunal hugs Kuhu after Abir and him fight and Kunal is upset because Abir "chose" Mishti over him? Before that, Kunal says "tumhe chhod kar, maine apne bhai ko choose kiya". This dialogue did not make sense to me at all. When did Kunal ever have the need to think about choosing Kuhu if he never loved her?

I love the saree idea!! We should definitely discuss HCs on those!!

I have been little too stuck on the Parul thing and I remembered the Kuhu calling her 'Maa' scene and how we had discussed homework HCs🤭 at that point. So, I was thinking since that turned out to be a blooper, I would love to know from you guys how you would like to see the Kuhu-Parul relationship improve?

For the 2nd point, I will probably have to go back and watch episodes but my guess is that he meant that he gave up his friendship with Kuhu. He had finally found a friend who he liked spending time with and who knew how to handle his mood (I'm playing the "Tum bohot sorted ho" car convo in my head). So, he probably meant that he gave up Kuhu's friendship for Abir.

So, I thought we could discuss HCs on different KuKu related topics for starters. What say??

In addition, as is sort of happening organically already, can we discuss old Kuku scenes? It's a damned tragedy that we didn't have this group of people during some of the most exciting phases of Kuku's story and I would love to take advantage of the break to catch up on those!

And in that vein...

@Meera: That scene is my absolute, #1 fravourite Kuku scene, hands down! To me, along with being generally angsty and beautiful, it confirmed my suspicion that Kunal always had feelings for Kuhu but sacrificed them and committed to deceiving her to save his brother from someone he saw as another Shweta. There is a a really good montage scene just before he agrees to deceive Kuhu when he remembers all of their moments together and regrets that he has to do this to her but chooses to do it for bhai.

The way this was supposed to work out, he would harm Kuhu temporarily but not ruin her life and bhai and Mishti would be separated permanently. Instead, his mom forced him into a life sentence, facing this horrible thing he did to Kuhu every minute of every day, and not only did Abir and Mishti not break up, Abir didn't take Kunal's feelings about it into consideration at all and when the time came, chose to support Mishti over him again and again. In this scene, Kunal is lamenting the fact that he gave up everything he wanted for himself to be loyal to these two people, but all they did was push him into his own personal hell and move on with their lives.

The thing with Kunal is that he shies away from the label of "love" but if you watch the scenes from after Mishti and Kunal's GD breaks but before the plotting began, you can see that Kuhu and Kunal were clearly in a very flirty, dating kind of space -- they were definitely not just friends. And Kunal was really happy, slowly coming out of his shell, but then their relationship got outed and rushed.

I think post-marriage, he struggled with the truth of how their relationship began -- he tried to make himself more of a villain than he actually was to process what he had done to Kuhu. It's like he was pushing her away saying, stop loving me and being kind, you idiot, I am the guy who ruined your life! But Kuhu didn't stop, and gradually his trust in her presence and love started to overpower his guilt and the desire for her to stay started to overpower the certainty that she *should* leave. This scene was the beginning of that verrrry slow process.

@Bold-1: Oh yes!! He is standing in front the mirror in his room, right?

@Bold-2: Just wanted to put emphasis on this point. I feel so bad for Kunal and Kuhu. These 2 always become the collateral damage in this war of egos between Meenu and Abir. This is one of the reasons why I like them so much more than the leads.

Okay, that makes sense! I keep thinking back to how Kunal was affected by his relationship with Shweta, and how he developed serious trust issues after that. I think he was drawn towards Kuhu in the wake of his breakup with Shweta because she kept things uncomplicated and simple with him (although in every other aspect of her life, it was drama and more drama, hence the rockiness in their relationship currently).

In thinking about the Kunal-Shweta and Kunal-Kuhu parallel, it isn't extremely difficult to see the similarities. In the first, Shweta came in with a clear agenda of greed, hurting Kunal in the end. In the second, Kunal came in with a clear agenda of protecting his brother from a girl he thought was exactly like Shweta; and in the process, ended up becoming the "Shweta" in Kuhu's life. I don't really know if he had the self-awareness to recognize that though.

Now, he is so caught up with his family drama that he cannot see past Mrs. Kuhu Rajvansh. And that kills me, because when they were friends once-upon-a-time, we could see him developing feelings for just... Kuhu. I keep wishing Kuhu would leave Kunal so that we could see a longing, desperate Kunal for an extended period of time (not the BS we were shown for half a day when Kunal tries to get Kuhu back before their divorce), but I have to remind myself that Kuhu is the same girl that admitted to Abir that she wasn't as strong as Mishti, and she could never bring herself to just up and leave Kunal.

omg sam!!

every word of this post resonates with things going in my head since I have been watching old episodes too

and you have just put things so properly & in clear words that I am literally awed

I also wanted to discuss this point because I always had this theory that Kunal always liked kuhu, right from start, or from that bumping into her at night scene, infact I found him excited for meeting Kuhu for rishta, and also he looked broken when meenu exchanged the rishta

there was infact 1 more scene during that bachelor's party when in drunken state he says to kuhu, 'agar mishti nahi hoti toh hamari kahani kuchh aur ho sakti thi'

even after running away from wedding, in the letter he left for abir he mentions, 'par kuhu sahi hai bhai, usko meri tarah se sorry bolna'

so as per me kunal had already fallen in love with kuhu unknowingly

infact I always saw that as the biggest strength of Kuhu, to be able to love unconditionally

though in that scene she mentioned that I am not strong like Mishti, but I found her the strongest among the 4 in matters of love

even though kunal put her through so much, she realised that it was all because he wanted to save abir from mishti, she understood his intentions & always stood by him whenever he needed her, I dont think she did all this just to earn a 2nd chance at her marriage from Kunal, but she actually fell in love with the rjv family, because thats what she is capable of, accepting people how they are & still loving them for their positive qualities, infact she is someone who focuses on the positive traits in everyone & is able to see beyond the flaws

also now I have understood why we didnt get the separation track of kuku, because kunal is still struggling with his fears of being rejected in the past & kuhu also rejecting him(though this time he deserved it) would have just cemented those fears

@aqua: Collateral damage is right! When Mishti made the decision to tell the family about Kuhu's feelings for Kunal against Kuhu's wishes, both couples were at the exact same juncture. Abir and Kuhu and realised their feelings while Mishti and Kunal handn't. But by throwing Kuku in the spotlight, MA bought time to let their relationship develop organically while Kuku became the had various bade pushing and pulling at a relationship that wasn't yet solid to begin with.

Even then, Kuhu knew exactly how to handle Kunal, and I am so confident that had they had the time and space to progress on their own terms, they would have handled it much better than their families did. smiley24

@Meera: I think the whole family drama thing is precisely why these two found kindred spirits in each other. Both of their family lives were filled with drama and both of them were looking for respite from that. Kunal was pleasantly surprised to find that Kuhu didn't make a huge fuss when he left her alone on Sufi night (THE CANDLE SCENE ) and Kunal was similarly sensible when Shweta tricked Kuhu into bringing Kunal to her party or when he was asked to clear up the tax issue with the haar after the GD broke.

As I always say, what makes Kuhu special to Kunal is that she showed him he doesn't have to choose between his desires and his family, because she is both. For me Kuhu Rajvansh is just a version of the Kuhu Maheshwari we saw in the friendship phase who was allowed to blossom in the positive environment she always craved, so I find it very hard to separate them.

I think what sums up Kunal's attitude now is something that they talked about when he asked for a time-out the first time. Kuhu said yes, but only if he promised her a time-out when she needed it. Kunal responded with, okay sure but when does your family have this kind of drama? Both brothers have bought into the Maheshwari HSSH facade and aren't grasping the seriousness of the tension between the sisters because their drama doesn't take the form of shocking revelations, deep family secrets, or openly feuding family members. It also doesn't help that the sisters seem to oscillate wildly between being protective and affectionate and being at each other's throats. So I get why Kunal is struggling, and I don't think it's because his love for Kuhu isn't genuine.

A separation would unfortunately require actual focus on these two characters which ain't happening. I content myself with the tadap we got after navratri from their physical distance, and after the leap from Kuhu's emotional distance.

@Peace: AAHH!! Way to bring up my second favourite scene. "Humari kahani kuch aur ho sakti thi" is basically the catch-phrase of Kuku's relationship. I love that Kunal went to Kuhu that night knowing he's going to lose her once he tells her the truth, wanting to be honest with her, but not being able to bring himself to seal the deal. Like he said, I have to tell you something important, but everytime I look into your eyes, I can't say it. I mean... he couldn't have said it plainer than that. 😉
