Is this a tax evasion film? Or see no other reason for them to not postpone the release. Or they could've released digitally if loses were too big. I think they could've fetched a good price seeing how it would be the first theatrical ready film releasing on digital the same day. And anyways such films work the best in metros and multiplexes and these are the same OTT consumers.

Angrezi Medium Poor Start - Chal Mera Putt 2 Fair

Angrezi Medium had a poor start of around 8-10% with around 45 crucial cinemas not playing the film in Delhi city due to cinemas remaining shut in the Union Territory till the end of the month due to Corona Virus. Jammu and Kerala are also shut but the contribution from there is very limited.

Angrezi Medium is a franchise film of Hindi Medium which opened at around 2.50 crore nett and the way this has opened there does not look much upside to that number unless evenings have a strong pick up. Hindi Medium hardly deserved a franchise as though it may have been a HIT it was hardly seen by many people. The film was a HIT mainly due to it doing good business against its costs but it was not a grosser.

The best collections for the film are in Noida and Gurgaon which shows that Delhi is going to be a big loss. The last film was also driven by Delhi NCR but even if all things were normal it would still be hard for this film to do a repeat of Hindi Medium in NCR. The film needs a big turnaround on Saturday and if it comes then it will Monday that will tell if the turnaround was good enough. There will also be more fear of more states shutting cinemas like Delhi in the near future.

The Punjabi film Chal Mera Putt 2 had a fair opening with occupancy far better than Angrezi Medium. Chal Mera Putt had done extraordinary business Overseas though could not fare well in India and it remains to be seen how Chal Mera Putt 2 goes.

Baaghi 3 got its success tag from BOI already. How is this movie gonna survive? The situation is what it is. It's gonna get worse tomorrow with the rest of the states following suit.

Angrezi Medium is heading for a poor first day of around 3.25 crore nett and it could be lower as there has been announcemnets of cinemas shutting in ceratin states which could have affected public mentality although the notices were from midnight today.

Its an irrelevant number for the film as there is no hope for the film with cinemas closing for long periods due to Corona Virus. There was not much hope to begin with but if a film is in cinemas you can never write off until it actually has no chance. Here the film will be remain in minimal cinemas and key places like Mumbai and Delhi will not be playing the film leaving it with little chance.

Baaghi 3 faced a big drop with collections likely to be in the 1.5-2 crore nett range depending on where mass circuit numbers come out in the morning. The film faced huge drops at big centre multiplexes but places like UP have held much better. There is a notice to close cinemas in Bihar and if that is in play today then it will hit the film hard.

The Punjabi film Chal Mera Putt 2 is a decent fare with expected collections of 80-90 lakhs nett but again its hard to say what the future holds for this film.
