I see her taking the Business woman of the year. She is looking so elegant in that dress that I chose for her. Past 8 years she did exactly what I have asked her to do without asking a single question. And now she is here and my heart fills with pride. Yet I feel emptiness inside because I never got what I actually wanted from her. The love. We are best of friends but we have never crossed that line despite of being married. I am not complaining. I knew what I had signed for before bringing her in London. But, in this 8 years my feelings for her only grown.
Her entire speech was blur as I thought about her indifference, her reluctance, her closing off from the entire world when she came along with me. What pains me the most is that she still haven’t moved on from Anurag Basu. She still bleeds thinking about his betrayal. Maybe that is what true love is which I failed to experience.
Prerna looks at me from the stage after completing her speech and my heart twists in a good way. I smile inwardly. Kudos to you Mrs. Bajaj. How easily you have inflicted feeling inside this stone-hearted man.
I watch her come towards me and flash the award in front of my eyes. I merely smiled and congratulate her. She is about to give me a friendly hug instead she chose to touch my lips.
