The Central Government has imposed a moratorium on Yes Bank effective today, restricting the withdrawal of deposits to Rs 50,000. Any withdrawal over the amount will require the permission of the Reserve Bank of India.
The moratorium will be applicable from 6:00 pm on March 5 to April 3, 2020.
The bank will not be allowed to pay depositors a sum exceeding Rs.50,000/- lying in any savings, current or any other deposit account, the government said in a notification.

Woi. That’s bad. Any particular reason?
God knows what's going to happen in the future. Looks like Yes Bank is the next in line to fall apart.

The very same, financial condition at Yes Bank very weak just like the coop banks had last year. SBI and LIC has been asked to acquire stakes in Yes Bank now.

Oh man. That is sad. Bank corruption has reached heights. Can SBI resurrect it or help in anyway? Average middle class person in India gets the most beating. One more feather added in Nirmala Ji’s cap. 👎🏼

Yes it's always the middle class and poor who suffers the most. I have horrible memories of seeing people in front of my eyes crying while folding hands to the security guards at PMC bank outlet and requesting them to withdraw money when they didn't have any. It was plain horror and hope this Yes Bank thing doesn't become like PMC though panic has already started.
The worst part right now is decision making. Everyone now suggests to split your savings into different banks, I've done the same by splitting to public ans private banks but when suddenly all these scams hapoen back to back it is so tough to even decide on which bank should one deposit kyunki lagta hai agla number unka to nahi. Aur abhi toh investments mein bhi lag rahe hai...I had a really bad loss this month on my SIP investment since the market crashed so bad globally due to corona virus. Ab kya kare kahaan paise lagaaye, it's becoming such a huge concern

I hear ya. Been to India recently and this is the concern for many. I would be scared too if my savings are suddenly nil. It’s like you slog, save money and boom they aren’t available when you need it. Are these big name banks reliable? I invested in HDFC plan this year.
Imtiaz Ali had honestly started losing me over the last few years. The magic felt diluted, the storytelling increasingly self-conscious. But...
