Not all remakes succeed at box office

One of the most hyped films in recent times is none other than Telugu remake of super hit Tamil film '96', which is titled "Jaanu" and features Samantha, Sharwanand in the leads. Due to Samantha factor, the film was expected to get staggering openings along with a blockbuster run. But it looks like nothing such is happening.

Despite the team of Jaanu thanking audiences for their verdict, the real fact is that the film is not doing well owing to the numbers it should actually make. With world wide theatricals sold out for 21 crores, the film should make more than that, to make sure that no distributor gets a loss. After the first week of its release, the film made only 6.5+ crores share, with much of it coming from Telugu states only.

While the film's run in the USA is a disaster with distributors losing almost all their investment, in the Telugu states, the distributors are staring at almost 70% losses. Though Dil Raju is super confident that the movie will entice Telugu audiences, somehow the film's emotion didn't even connect.

Is Samantha's 'U Turn' a hit or a flop? Latest trade reports suggest that the mystery thriller didn't cover itself in glory at the box-office. The remake, directed by Pawan Kumar, has only incurred losses.

The film's theatrical rights were bought by different distributors for Rs. 9 Cr. They were looking at the track record of the subject, given that it was a big hit in Kannada. However, the film ended with a share of Rs. 6.50 Cr.

lol remaking 96 was a stupid idea from the start the film was good though very slow i mean the original it was just made to gain some numbers only it never was going to work in mass circuits due to how slow and non massy it was

Rest pink and PK🤣 you already know my opinion on him I don't need to repeat it this is the one guy I avoid watching anything of😆 it sounds like a DISASTER of epic levels. However, I must mention here that I did watch the pink Tamil remake with shraddha srinath and ajith which was good. Not as good as original caz they added some masala factors in it like thala's whole fight scene in the park but still it worked on the bigger scale caz ajith has the talent to pull it off and he was great

Also I must mention I really adored his chemistry with vidya balan in the film and I wished they'd do a full fledge film someday caz BOY the talent* omg* and they looked HOT

Regarding Nithin, apart from his expressions his dialogue delivery is poor too ...Screen presence and looks ke basis pe banda has been surviving somehow...i think atleast he doesnt irritate me like few other actors when he is onscreen haha ...And he was gayab for 6-7 yrs in between bcz of the flops...Telugu ppl almost forgot his existence in tollywood ...then with back to back two hits with Nitya menon he is surviving again in tollywood...Somehow his chemistry clicked with Nitya and ppl watched those two movies bcz of Nitya ..she compensated his average acting 😆..then after these movies i dont remember his movies becoming hits or atleast decent to watch...i think now bheeshma is hit ( boxoffice wise) after those movies with nitya ...😆

Regarding Ajith's pink , i have yet to watch this video/clip...I like both the actors Ajith and Vidya balan...Ajith movie i think i have watched only one so far..long back there was this movie called "Vaali" he acted as twins...he was amazing in that movie playing double role/twins...Simran was the heroine...Vaali was one of my all time favourites...

I really am not aware of these movies until you mentioned ...haha

When i said succeeded in remakes, i was not referring to box-office wise...tollywood mein toh random movies get hits at box office and good movies dont do good...I was referring to ...getting succeeded in making the remake without losing the essence of original movie as AY said , and also not losing the essence of performances in original...

I mean when the movie is good ..it means a lot of factors contribute to make a good movie like script, actors performance,their chemistry,the vibe...With remakes its hard to bring that vibe and essence,chemistry ...and also comparisions are inevitable when you do remakes or copy paste...rarely makers get it right or succeed in remakes ..For example if you take Dhrishyam..makers did a good job in remakes whether in Telugu or Hindi ( hindi one i have not watched..but it was liked by north ppl know..it was accepted)...the thing is they chose the right actors and the king of that movie was script...those emotions within any family are universal...Father-daughter,the whole family bond, his determination to protect her daughter whatever comes in his way with courage and his intelligence... ...these emotions were easy to connect even with different actors...and they didnt change the script atleast in Telugu...and also they retained the same girl and mother in Telugu one...upar se Venkatesh and Meena did many movies together before and they were hit pair in old movies too...their chemistry also worked as wife and husband in the movie...this Dhrishyam movie is one rare example where telugu remake didn't make difference from original...haha...

I've always wanted to and we have talked about it so many times but I never got to actually doing it caz the song is really difficult. Bw might've done it I am not sure yaar

LOL ah ok. Aaj I heard the song after many days and phir se Shivika pe imagine kiya....but it feels like so much effort to vid 🙈.....maybe I’ll manage to make a snippet one day 😆

Aaj ka MDKD was focused on agency as expected mehendi ratna cheated Rd also and has now given the ultimatum to AS ke 24 hrs mein 34 lakh or agency. He giraooed his kehar on RF ke chor ka beta chor I gave you a chance and you turned out to be a snake but this time cheekh chilaya nahi but poor RD is so guilt ridden trying to explain me he has been cheated too. Baaki Mia ke saath saath uski dost kajal bhi laat maar aayi job ko and they now have no savings so jangle hain wahan bhi. Rest bechara AS trying to collect the money due to his emotional attachment to the agency I liked the scene with nia trying to motivate him with the poem. Sweet tehraav wala scene tha but iss sab main roshni ki ek kiran for ambar was nia casually mentioning guneet ka message aaya and khil gaya AS. I liked his little confession to his wife's photo too .

Baaki precap is🤣 With guneet entering and baharo phool barsao playing in BG and AS running to help her with her broken suitcase and hakim watching and enjoying the scene 😆

Whattay precap🤣.....ek toh song choice and Amber ka COY expression when Hakim is like jaa, jaake mil le, and then his expression when he lifts Guni ka suitcase and her ZULFEIN hit him in the face🤣

Waise toh sober epi hi tha.....I felt bad for poor RD....but on the other hand, good that his dad revealed his true intentions jaldi hi rather than dragging it out more.....ab RD koi jugaad lagaayega apni taraf se bhi.

Amber ki reactions were actually quite subdued considering what happened.....yeh purana Amber hota toh aur tandav karta, would have yelled at RD more.....but this one was mostly weary even if he still mistrusts RD.

Baaki Amber talking to his wife's portrait about how just hearing that Guni sent a message was enough to make him feel lighthearted again, jaan aa gayi waapis and life started to feel hopeful again....very nicely enacted by Varun....that halting way in which he felt both guilty and happy about what he was feeling for Guni and trying to express it to his wife....pyara tha.

I also loved the girl bonding between Nia and her friend (iska naam mujhe bhool jaata hai....lol)....good for the girls for taking a stand for themselves.....and I guess aise time pe woh yaaron ke yaar type doston ka pata chal jaata hai.....her friend supported her at such a huge cost.....I hope the girls can build something on their own dum again and prove the naysayers wrong👏. It was cute how they got conscious of the drink prices at the bar and decided to get lassi for themselves instead😆.....ek badaa positive sisterhood vibe tha scene mein that is rarely seen in such a natural manner on TV.

Anyways, I guess ab Amber bhi kuch try karega and maybe RD will too and together they may manage to save the agency😆
