Bakiyon ka pta nahi but Sonakshi really seems huge to be paired opposite someone like Shahid. It's more about how the couple would look on screen and whether audience will like the pair on screen or not. Sonakshi was recently paired with ARK in Kalank, so it's not like she isn't getting opportunities to star opposite the actor's if her age, I think it's more about how she looks with the actor she is paired with.

Someone gave an apt example about PC being paired with SRK and HR.

Kajol might be younger than HR but let's be honest would anyone like them paired opposite each other or Karishma for that matter. They belong to different generation of movies. Having said that I have to admit that yes, as a society we are programmed to imagine a male actor with a comparatively young female actor and not the other way around, which is really sad.

No. Kajol and Karishma debuted almost a decade before Hrithik debuted. So normal audience consider them older than Hrithik. Sonakshi looks old. She is too huge for young actors. Priyanka started opposite SRK and Sunny Fell. Still she was paired opposite Hrithik as she debuted later. It's all about perception of common audience.

When Sonakshi was essaying flowerpots opposite Salman and Akshay many years ago,she was rejected by Ranbir and Shahid.

Sonakshi and ARK pairing has happened when they are not successful.

Also Ranbir might be giving that for an excuse only not to work with Sonakshi.😆

They were beyond weird, they both looked weird.

It’s all about making pretend look as real as possible

I also want to point out that Vidya was paired opposite Shahid in KK, isn't she older than Shahid? So, it's not same with every actress. I think Khans are more particular about who they are casting opposite, may be because they are insecure about their age. Also, Akshay has been casting some B grade heroines in his movies for the longest time, not that female leads have much to do in his movies.😳

Younger actors are more open about who they are casted with, may be because we are having quite a new lot now and there are limited options. Someone like Kartik or Vicky won't dare to deny a movie alongside DP or Kat because of age difference.
