I think it's because they simply don't have the time to develop more on Kunal's character at the moment, so they've kind of just sidelined him unfortunately. I really want the two of them to open up to each other a lot more, though. Even their scene today was really only about Abir and his Mahashivratri puja. I just hope that they do something about it before Ritvik grows disinterested. He has so much talent and potential, plus he's super young, so I really don't see him sticking around if Kunal starts to become a stagnant character.

I was thinking the same thing and wrote a novel complaining about it and posted it here. Didn't know you guys already discussed it 😆

@Nikki: I hear your frustration, and while I have grudgingly made peace with the fact that we won't get more of Kuku quantitatively, I continue to be pretty impressed with what they manage to pack into their tiny-miny scenes. The car scene actually addressed so many of the concerns about Kuhu taking Kunal back so easily, why she is trusting him when he cheated her the way he did, and whether he loved her as an individual or the RV bahu.

She may have masked it with humour, but when she told him some things should be secret to keep the mystery alive, Kuhu was essentially saying that she doesn't trust Kunal to love her and stand by her if she reveals that she isn't the perfect paragon of feminine virtue. Kunal expected her to be candid with him just because he is properly her husband now, but for Kuhu, the only way their relationship has ever worked is when she is the calm to his storm, and when she is the perfect bahu to his family. It's up to Kunal to show her that it can go both ways and earn that trust back. Only then will she confide in him the way she did before their sham wedding. That, to me, is an excellent set up for a longer redepmtion arc for Kunal.

The family part didn't bother me as much, because this guy who wants to come home from work early to help is brother and spend time with his family is exactly who Kuhu fell in love with. Asking for her help was his way of asking to spend time with her in a setting that both of them enjoy. They remind me of Tabu and Mohnish Behl from HSSH -- it's not that they don't have their little looks and touches and moments, but for the most part their identity as a couple is embedded in joint-family life. At the same time, I do take the point that this helps Kuhu avoid addressing the fear that Kunal only loves her as a bahu, for fear of what she'll learn. That's what I hope is coming.

@aqua: I can't commit to FFs but I will happily build some headcanons. For example: what happened after Kunal hit his head on their SR? My theory is that Kuhu went down and got ice, he did his usual chid chid and then fell asleep while she was icing his head and trying to apologise. Kuhu just sighed and chuckled at his grumpy, sleeping face, stroked his hair off his forehead and went to sleep next to him. The next morning, she left for her jog and to plan the surprise before he woke up, which is why neither of them knew quite what to expect when they saw each other. 😆

@Nami: That scene was just before Karva Chaut. I don't remember the episode number, but chronologically, it was just after their tashan in the market (main definitely tumhara hero nahi hoon). It was part of a song montage that showed both families preparing for Kuhu's KC.

@Nikki: My whole imagining of this writer is that they write only scenes which are exclusive Kuku, have absolutely no say over how the overall plot functions (so they can't control how things like Kunal's birth secret or the divorce truth function in the overall story), and are given anywhere from 20 seconds to 3 minutes to articulate an entire phase of the story, and give us a glimpse into the inner lives of these two characters. That's the challenge, and they constantly surprise me with how they manage to come through! 😲

Another head canon: Mishti thinks she put walnuts in the brownie, but it's actually chopped hazelnuts. Parul hasn't kept walnuts in the house since Kuhu got there and told her about her allergy. Kuhu wasn't worried because she knows this, and since the hospital visit, Kunal knows too. 😉

I agree with what you said about the car scene. I hadn't thought of it like that when I was watching the episode. My thought process was more geared towards her not telling him that she felt so jealous of Mishti that it brought out her worst self and even though he has seen her be angry and blame her for things, he has never seen her do something in anger, be it by mistake or intention.

Before the sham wedding also, she was never fully into the idea of hurting Mishti and at that time, it was his idea. Now, since he is trying to mend that relationship for his brother, she doesn't want him to know that the Mishti being a part of RV family bothers her like it used to back then.

I hadn't considered the possibility of her not trusting Kunal completely but that is a plausible explanation. Also, I feel her guilt and past experiences with situations like this also plays a role in this situation. She has always seen Mishti being favoured even in situations where Mishti was at fault and she had done a small blunder. The situation would always be focused on blaming Kuhu rather than Mishti. In this case scenario, it was actually Kuhu's fault plus Mishti had already gotten brownie points (pun intended) early on so she didn't think Kunal would see the situation any differently than the rest of the Maheshwari family.

@sam: I think I'd prefer your headcanons 😆. It gets my imagination going so I can add my bits here and there . Seriously, I have all sorts of scenes going around in my head after I read your posts.smiley36

Kunal has already apologised to Kuhu in my imagination so I'm not even expecting an on screen apology or any kind of acknowledgment.

One thing I'm struggling to understand is what may be going through Kunal's mind right now. He seems pretty content with the way his relationship with Kuhu is going; they're taking it easy, getting more comfortable with each other.

He's almost rewarding Kuhu for the happiness she spread in the RV home and her impact on his life and relationships but, as you said, it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to the darker side of Kuhu's mind.

But what other expectations does he have? I agree with you all, Kunal's his personal struggles still need to be given attention to. Whether that be his relationship with BB or Parul or is slight insecurities with his brother.

Looks like there were a lot of interesting discussions going on here. I will try to read everything later but wanted to add something that I am not really happy about in KuKu relationship.

I liked yesterday's scenes, it was cute and all but when I think about it, I just remember that Kunal was talking about Abir and Mishti. They didn't talk anything about themselves. I know Kunal loves Abir and now he has converted into a Mishti bhakt but shouldn't they be talking about their own relationship?

This is just the second day after they got married after a huge drama. As per the story they were supposed to get divorced yesterday. Kunal lied to Kuhu and married her, he made Kuhu's life miserable for so many months and almost ruined her life. ( And if he had not started liking her and left her, Kuhu would have been emotionally scarred for life) But now it is all brushed under the carpet and they are all lovey-dovey. When Kunal said he is going to come early from work, I was thinking that he might take Kuhu somewhere where they could spend time with each other, but of course, he wanted to help his brother to prepare for Puja. smiley6

Now that all the kitchen politics has started, I have absolutely no hope that they will ever talk about what happened after their first wedding.

I know I have said this many times before and I am repeating myself but I just want them to have one decent conversation where they are just talking about themselves and not about the (ugly)haar or the stupid cooking face-off or their siblings. Considering the fact that they are the second leads, I am 99.99% sure that this talk will never happen. That conversation could have been a great way to give some depth to their relationship.

Sorry for all the negativity but I absolutely love fictional couples who have deep discussions about their relationship and their feelings for each other. Has anyone watched the Turkish show, Fatmagul? In that show, the leads get married after an extremely traumatic incident for the FL where ML also involved. They get married and fall in love. But after they fall in love, they don't immediately jump to the romance part. They talk about their feelings and discuss what happened and make their peace with the past. I enjoyed their discussions so much. The way they were so honest about their relationship and their issues (even though it was traumatic for both of them to discuss their past), ended up making up them so much stronger.

I know Kunal and Kuhu's situation is completely different than the show I mentioned, but Kunal did lie to Kuhu and married her ( even if it was against his will), I wish there was an acknowledgment of this part at least once so that my KuKu shipping heart would be finally at peace smiley36

I don't know if they will ever acknowledge their past blunders but considering this a DKP show, everything gets brushed under the carpet to move the story forward for the leads.

*Consider these my wishful thinking*: I would be grateful to anyone who decides to turn any of the following thoughts to a fanfic or an OS or even if you elaborate on these.

I would like to think that they actually spoke to each other during their SR.

Also, I do wish we would get a scene acknowledging the struggles that Kuhu faced. I want an outburst or a full on emotional sequence with Kuhu failing to be strong anymore. I would love it if it was infront of both families where they would actually just shut up and listen to her.

I have been following the account that posted the scene with Kuhu's bachpan. They have been posting more videos from the childhood track. I would love it if they brought in Naitik to talk to Kuhu considering he was the first person she saw as a father figure. Also, he was there for her at a time when she had nobody around. And I would love for Kunal and the Maheshwaris to witness her actually opening up to someone.

Do share these imaginations please. Can we make a headcanon thread where we all just bounce ideas?? But I don't know if we'll need such a thread in the future if the KuKu story doesn't develop any further.

I so want Kunal's character to develop further. They didn't even give it much importance when Kunal called her Maasi today. He hasn't called her Maasi or maa or anything actually since the truth reveal episode. He has been super cautious till now and when he finally decides to say something, the makers don't even focus on it. Thoda footage to do bechaare ko.

Exactly! That's why I said Kunal seems to be sidelined. Glad Kuhu is leaning on him and he is being there for her but there's no strong story line for him in the show. The focus is on Mishti Kuhu and Meenu.. Abir also seems sidelined but I care more about Kunal 🥺
