•| How Did You Find Me?
Maine aapse kaha tha, jab bhi aapko zaroorat hogi, main hamesha rahunga.
Those were the words that held her frozen on the bed as his faint smile came in her sight. A moment later when she attempted to get up, she couldn't. Her every muscle ached and with that every bit of the pain, her heart shattered bit by bit, remembering what her love did to her.
Her gaze involuntarily roamed around and she realized she was at an unfamiliar place. Was it his new home? Where was she?
"My... my daughter." She frantically moved herself to pull herself in a sitting position, her desperate eyes searching for her newborn. Was she okay? Was she hurt? Was she... alive?
"Mr. Bajaj..." She cried. "My daughter... Where is my daughter?" Her eyes began welling up as she looked at him with that hope in her eyes... the hope that he hadn't let her daughter get harmed.
He, hearing her unsaid call and understanding the unasked assurance, walked closer to the bed. His hand pulled out his handkerchief from his pocket and he held it in front of her. Seeing her making no move of taking it from me, he took a step forward. Her longing to see her daughter twisted something in his heart.
His hand reached out to her cheek, as he wiped her tears, before he pulled himself two steps back. "She is in the other room. I have arranged a doctor who is looking after her full time. She is a little weak but he has assured me that she is going to be okay."
Her breathing that had got laboured due to panicking was returning to normal as she heard him. "I... want to see her," she whisepered, trying to push her legs down the bed.
"Relax, Mrs. Ba... Sorry. I mean, Prerna. Trust me when I say, I have arranged the best doctor for her. He will take care of her and for you to be able to take care of her, you need to take care of yourself first so... calm down and get back on the bed."
"Cookie..." She raised her eyes at him, hoping for a quick answer.
"She is in school. She was very happy to see you but upset at the same time... um... seeing you in this condition."
"Was I wrong, Mr. Bajaj?" The question wasn't clearly put but he wasn't the one who needed it anyway. He had learned reading her eyes long ago.
"It doesn't matter. What matters is, that you are okay."
"How did you find me?" She slowly slipped back on the bed, while her eyes still fixed at him.
He bent forward a little to cover her with the blanket that she had pushed aside. "You need to find what you lose, Prerna and I don't think, I ever lost you."
