Shekhar Kapoor mentioned that the original script was written for Amitabh Bachchan, which went through a lot of story alterations when shooting with Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Anu Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Harish Patel, Amrish Puri etc. For him it was a mix of multi-characters who made the story come alive, rather than rely on one main character as it was written....the Charlie Chaplin scene was an impromptu addition possibly after seeing Sridevi's talent.

Obviously Sridevi, Amrish Puri can't be part of the new movie. Am curious, if say Anil and his kids can't be part of the movie as suggested, would you like to see the same story line or something different? Who would you like to see being cast in the iconic roles with an all new star cast?

Rest doesn't matter none of the actors has Sridevi's charm or aura... Maduri is the last actress who could have come close.

Since the original was a comedy movie, my picks are:

for the side characters: Kiku Sharda, Abhishek Banerjee (hairstylist guy in Bala), Vijay Raaz, Kumud Mishra, Angad Bedi, etc.

Seema Pahwa or Rishi Kapoor as the editor

Female lead: Tabu, Bhumi Pednekar?

Male Lead: Saif, Tiger?

Can't think of a good villian now.

Yes, it's so tough to come up with possible options for the lead cast.
