Haha.. So I'm back with another study of the psyche of Bajaj. Even though I'm so busy right now that I don't have time to breathe. All of this is Pavan da's fault. Why oh why did you have to post this video?
The Art of War
Or a study on what makes Rishabh Bajaj invincible
What amazes me about Season One of KZK is how much care was taken by it's writers to keep it's characters true to their cores. We are all made of certain characteristics. They form the base of our beings, our cores. And while we can learn to mould our responses to situations over time, learn to hide our core deep inside us, we can never get rid of it. It always finds a way to assert itself in our actions, reactions and decisions.
The very first scene in which Rishabh Bajaj was introduced, establishes the core of his character. He is an engineer of outcomes. He gets whatever he wants. He has a deep understanding of human behavior. But that's not what makes him invincible.
Let us unpack the above scene.
Rishabh is responsible for the failure of Aparna's show. He had asked Komolika and her sidekick to buy the majority of the tickets and then on the day of the show, gets the other people who have bought tickets for the show to believe that it's gonna be a bad show. Result? The entire hall is empty except for Komolika, Prerna and him. His next direction to Komolika is to get rid of the tickets but she has other plans. She has the bag of tickets placed in Prerna's room and then tips Anurag about their whereabouts. Anurag, true to his core, reacts emotionally by taking the police to the Bajaj house. The police find the tickets and Rishabh takes the blame for it, saying that he can't see Prerna go to jail. From the jail, he calls Komolika and reveals to her that he knew all along that Indronil had placed the bag in Prerna's room and summons them to visit him in the jail.
There are three things to consider here. Firstly, this is not the first time Komolika has gone rogue. Actually, the very pattern of a Bajaj-Komo collab is that halfway through the plan, she backstabs him and initiates her own plans. But despite her constant backstabbing, Rishabh still recruits her to carry out his nefarious plans because of his caliber to turn any situation into his favour. When he found out about Indronil, instead of getting rid of the bag, he let whatever Komolika had planned to play out because he knew he could manipulate the situation to his benefit.
Second thing is Rishabh using Anurag's nature against himself. Anurag is an emotional person. He listens to his heart and therefore his reactions to any situation is impulsive. The moment he showed up in the Bajaj house, Rishabh knew that Anurag hadn't even considered what would happen if his accusations were to be proven right. Anurag's impulsiveness gave him the perfect opportunity to show Prerna that he wouldn't let any harm come to her. And thereby gaining her trust in him.
The third and the most important thing is the great understanding Rishabh has of the art of war. He understands the significance of losing sometimes. He understands that not all victories are desirable and not all loses are detrimental. He knows that people who are obsessed with winning all battles often end up losing the war. And it is this understanding that makes Rishabh Bajaj invincible.
P. S: I miss Indronil. His interactions with Komolika was comedic gold.
