[3] Bitch Of Fordwich
Khushi rolled to the side, head on her hand and a pout her lips "Hai, Allah" she groaned, "Have I died and gone to heaven?"
Turning his head to face her, Arnav bit back a laugh "Not quite" leaning up so his elbow was planted on the grass and his cheek was on his hand, he took the opportunity to look at her, like really look at her. She was beautiful, big brown eyes and a smile that made his heart skip a few beats, even covered in leaves and water she was still the prettiest sight he'd ever seen.
Blinking, she focused on his face "Of course not, if you're here this can only be hell". Pouting, she turned onto her side "Can I be honest with you?"
He opened his mouth to reply.
But by the looks of it, she didn't really care for his answer "I think about strangling you with my dupatta about ten times a day".
"Wow, didn't know BDSM was your thing, I always took you for a closet dominatrix, would you tie me up too?" He fluttered his eyelashes.
Ever innocent, she blushed at his remarks. "Tie you up and throw you off a cliff" she muttered, then frowned "Uh who's that blocking my sunlight? I need a tan or I'll be as pasty as Edward Cullen".
"Oh my gosh, Arnu is that you?" The taller woman stood over them, raven hair pin-straight against her back and high heels sharp enough to really hurt if it hit the wrong place.
Khushi couldn't help but wish she'd do everyone a favour and stick it where the sun didn't shine, but unfortunately for humanity, she didn't have a lamp that she could rub to help her with that. "Oh look, it's the resident bitch of Fordwich" catching herself, she giggled. "Hey, that rhymes, classy, huh?" Noting how no one laughed, she stood to her feet, dusting off her clothing as she did, "Tough crowd".
Glaring down at her, she flicked her hair over her shoulder and turned her attention back to Arnav on the floor.
Similarly to Arnav, she also had worked her ass off trying to make Khushi's life a misery, in fact, it had been the only job she'd ever done successfully, even now, years after school had finished she still managed to find the time to make digs at her and embarrass her whenever she could and it wasn't like anyone would stop her, see, Sheetal's father was the Mayor and that somehow meant she got everything she wanted, from designer clothes, front row seats at the monthly festivals and every boy she yearned for, the only exception had been local bad boy, Arnav Singh Raizada- for some unknown reason he flirted with her, teased her, but would never give her what she wanted by putting a label on their sickening relationship. Now he was back and she was single, so that could only really lead to one thing.
The ringing in her ears was beginning to sound a lot like wedding bells, either that or she was suffering a concussion from the slam of her forehead against his very hard, very toned chest. Pursing her lips as she eyed them both, she sucked in a harsh breath, the last thing she wanted was to be stuck between dumb and dumber two, so she began to distance herself as quietly as she could, walking backwards like she'd perfected the skill her entire life.
Until, "Munchkin, where you going? We have a party to get back to".
This man truly was the bane of her life. "If you must know, I'm going anywhere where you two aren't, now if you'll excuse me". For a stupid second, she believed she was going to get away with that comment, then a strong arm wound around her waist and lifted her from the ground. "Put me down, you oaf, put me down or so help me Allah, I'll-".
"You'll what?" He spoke into her ear, hot breath sending shivers down her spine. "Empty threats solve nothing, Khushi" his voice became huskier as he put her down but still held her to his body "Tell me what it is you want to do to me?"
Sheetal rushed forward "Arnu, we're all going to Thompson's, leave her, let's go".
Rolling her eyes, she tried not to be annoyed about how fake she acted now Arnav was back. Only Allah knew why he seemed to have a problem with anyone else ever bullying her unless it was him, but every single time she crossed the line, he'd always be there to have her back. In a weird way, he had been her saviour and her tormentor all at once. Twisting in his arms, she shoved him away "What I want to do to you doesn't fall under the category of kindness, so do me a favour and listen to your lap dog, I have no interest in being around either of you" then she was storming off as quickly as she could. Lord she deserved a medal, she was not built for anything fast and by five steps she was seeing stars, this was it, this was how she died and it was all to get away from him!
"Khushi, wait" he went to follow, but a hand on his arm stopped it.
"Come and spend time with people more at your standard, you owe her nothing, you're an adult now, no need to be nice to her just because your families are friends" Sheetal soothed, hand squeezing his bicep as she whispered into his ear.
But her whispers weren't quiet enough, her words strong enough to make Khushi stop in her steps. Had Arnav really faked niceness to her at times just for their family's sake? Gripping onto the nearest tree, she took a shaky breath, sure she may have came off uncaring, but before he had turned into her worst enemy, he'd been her childhood best friend, her protector and knowing that even the small and rare good parts were a lie dug deep. Her parents always tried to put a spin on his actions, said boys bullied when they liked a girl, but that was just bullshit, there was no excuse for what he did and now any good thing she thought of him (no matter how tiny) was all false. She hated herself for crying, hated herself for actually missing the times she felt like she was the only important girl in his world, none of it had been real and it was time she accepted that and moved on, she was a joke to him, his actions had never been though. He really was evil personified and this new game of flirting with her had clearly been an elaborate ruse. The next words she heard made that clear.
"Don't you know, she's inexperienced, never even kissed a guy" her laughter stung. "Or is this about that old bet? You wanted to bed her before anyone else right? Of course, the great Arnav could never lose a bet, I applaud you".
Scrunching her face up, she hid behind the tree, hand against her mouth to muffle her sobs that only seemed to break free when he finally responded.
"A bets a bet".
Just a note, I wrote this in a rush due to University, so I apologize for any mistakes, just let me know and I'll correct them as soon as I can! I also wanted to just thank all you lovely people for an absolutely OVERWHELMING response, you're all honestly so, so very kind.
