Not trying to defend him but Idk if anyone remembers during the initial weeks he used to mention that according to astrology he's been told to be around women and never go up against them cuz it would give negative effects. So maybe that's what his motive was behind saying he wants to compete with guys.

All the other times he's a complete a-hole though.
