His speech was over and their eyes locked in for awhile.All ears in the hall filled with the applause of appreciation for rohit’s speech but two people in the hall were turned deaf ears to that. They didn’t see anything or hear anything apart from themselves and their erratically beating hearts.His heart raced too fast to be caught up. And she felt her eyes turning wet overly again and she blinked them eyes to stop the tears so that he doesn’t fade away from her eyes.
Meanwhile ajit,the mute spectator of the two slowly took the mic away from rohit’s hand, breaking his trance. He didn’t utter a word but signed his brother towards his bhabhi and signalled him to go join her in the dance. Sonakshi saw her husband walking towards her and in a few steps he reached her.None of them uttered a word,he took her hand and their fingers entwined in their own accord. He twirled her and closed their gap. Her free hand rested on his shoulder and he held her waist tightly.
Ever since he left to delhi,a void that nothing could replace remained inside him. That void halfway filled when he returned back and they ended up falling atop each other in their room few hours ago. The moment was short but his stubborn heart secretly didn’t want that to end. How he wish to remain in her arms so closely like that just in the way his mind body and soul yearned.but time ran out and they had to part and his void remained half unfilled. And when he saw her again,coming down the stairs looking oh so ethereal he felt his stirring emotions screaming their guts out to be fullfilled but all what he could do was to devour her with his eyes alone.and now swaying into their own rhythm for they didn’t hear anything else,rohit sippy got a lone moment of his own to let his soul meet its needs like this.
Sonakshi sippy,you would be the death of me if you are going to be this irresistible everyday i swear.
His mind said it loud.
The sole reason for her existence has arrived back to her and she had no idea how she survived without him all this while. Delhi seemed the other end of the world and every passing second felt like an year to her during his absence. No proper sleep,no peace in mind and no reason to smile without he in her life. She has never been so attached to anything as much as she has been to him and now the attachment has changed to an addiction. His body against her few hours back seemed to stirr untamed unnamed unknown emotions in her and weirdly she found comfort in them all. The knowledge of him being around her again gave her feels like the once popular phrase “knight in shining armor” that appeared in her earlier grade literature books. She had saroor read that but never ever felt that in actual till he happened to her.when her eyes were meeting his as she stepped to the hall,was he already watching her? His eyes had all those emotions which were equally hiding but growing inside her for him as well. Is that what you call desire.
Rohit sippy,you would be everything i need to have in every passing second of everyday i swear.
Her mind said it loud.
He bent over and reached her level,as ajit dimmed the lights. Yes its nishi bua and YK’s anniversary but my brother needs dimmed lights and akhele times with bhabhi, he has alone decided.
Sonakshi knew her rohit was going to tell her something, just that she didn’t know what it would be. And as his lips almost almost almost touched her ear a chill ran down her spine and she clutched his shoulder even before he said a word.he smiled in silence seeing his sona all so tensed and equally affected by him. However he decided to talk. Ego or whatever damn thing wouldn’t silence the love tonight. Just as he said.
“Upar chalein,humari kamre mein?”
No he didn’t ask that,he literally whispered it into her in the deepest and the huskiest voice sonakshi has ever heard from him. And humari?So abh bhi hum hum hein,ego ki wajeise hum waapas tum and mein nahi hochuke hein,right? She related his current words to the heart-touching speech he sometime back gave for nishi bua and YK. And her heart filled with a relief and a resultant peace she couldn’t explain in words. She looked into his eyes and didn’t say a word. All rohit wanted to hear was there in her eyes and he read it all by himself.holding her arm in his he walked away from the hall,drawing her behind him and no one and not even them two saw how glistening the eyes and how wide the smile of the catalyst ajit sippy was,seeing them retiring to their room.
As he signalled her to enter,she did as he asked to. And he followed her and locked the door afterwards. A silence followed and he took off his jacket and threw it to the chair nearby. All that while,sonakshi stood in the middle of the room,watching him, not backing off,not panicking and not rushing, letting him take his time that he wanted and he deserved. He reached her, held her hand in his again, and walked her to the balcony with him. He drew curtains that seperated their room from the balcony and now they were alone in true real sense. She watched him. He watched her.
And in few steps ahead, they both walked to each other,bridging gaps. He took a deep breath and sonakshi knew its time for them to solve everything. Their love doesn’t need any time wasting anymore. She looked into his eyes. Now he deserved to hear her.
“I missed my rohit.” She confessed.
He felt a tug in his heart at that.honestly though they mutually reached here,there was no particular plan of how this discussion would go. They both badly needed to be alone together,that was it. He stared into her eyes.
“I miss him still.i miss him so much.” She repeated herself. He gave her time to talk, this is needed. Whatever is inside needs to come out.
“Jo bhi hua mujhse i am so sorry.Mujhe nahi patata ki meri galtise itna azar hoga hum dono pe exactly lekin galti toh hui hein mujhse.I am sorry please....i am so sorry.” Her voice started to break,a slight sob was about to come out. He couldn’t help but to hold her shoulders as a reflex.
“Please mujhe meri rohit ko waapas kardo.i need him back...please.i need my rohit back...” a tear a two and a few more and then more tears escaped her eyes the next few seconds of confession and he felt his eyes turning wet and his heart melt.
“Jo bhi sazza dena hein mujhe,apne paas rakkhar dedo.lekin please mujhe iss tarha door mat karo apne aapse. Mein jee nahi paunga tumare bina.I need you rohit....i just....” that was it for him. He couldn’t bear that anymore and in a second he held her to the wall and cupped her cheeks making her look at him.
“I love you.” He said.
“Rohit...” she effortlessly let his name escape but he halted her by placing his index finger on her lips.
“Please let me speak.please bas ek baar khulke bolne do mujhe.i love you.I just love you so very much,i cannot stay away from you anymore or ever again sona.i love you.” He said leaning his forehead against hers.
Her hands ran over his hair and cupped his head from behind in reflex as she decided to let him speak as he wanted.
“Jo bhi hoga zingdagi mein,tume nahi kho sakta mein.jagda hongi haan lekin kabhi tumse alag nahi ho sakta mein.tum mere jaan hein sona. I cannot live without you for a second.”
He confessed in return and leaning against each other they took shallow quick breaths in and out. Her tears wetted his cheeks and he wiped them away with his thumbs.
“Ro mat,sona.please. I cannot see you crying.” He whispered.
“I....mujhe rohna hein...i was holding in for so long.” She said,weakly.
He hugged her into his embrace and He drew themselves down along the wall and they both ended up landing on the ground slowly.
“Teek hein.lo tumari rohit tumari saat hein tumari paas hein.jo bhi kehena hein tume,jitna rohna hein tume,let it out will you...i am just here.” he whispered against her hair.
She hugged him tighter by his shirt and hid into his embrace, and started to cry and her sobs shook him in and out simultaneously. He rubbed her back trying to ease her pain and her tears wetted his shirt collar in no time.
“Kuch to galat hein mujhme rohit. Warna ye sab nahi hota.shaadi karke ek mehene bhi nahi hui hein aur jagda karte hein hum dono,tume takleef diya hein....pooja ke saat bohot kuch hua hein...paapa bhi kafaa hein humse...mein kuch bhi achche se nahi kar paarahi hoon rohit. There is something wrong with me.” She sobbed.
“Hey look at me sona.look at me. Here. Look here will you.” He held her chin and made her look at him.
“Kuch galat nahi hein tujhme sona....pooja ki saat jo kuch bhi hua hein,tumari koi galti nahi hein. News tumne leak nahi kiya hein aur pooji ki suicide attempt ki wakt sabse syaada help iss parviaarko tumne kiya hein.jahaan tak paapa ki baat hein,uska soch honestly matter nahi karte kyunki tum mere patni hoon aur as long as we are together in that nothing else matters. Aur rahi baat hum dono ke hein....what do you think, hum dono eise pehele couple hoon iss duniya mein iss tarha jagda kiya hua? No sona. Jagda har ghar mein har couple ke beechmein hota reheta hein.remember what i said downstairs. har ek insaan ke apna khudki perspectives hota hein bas woh perspectives ek dusre se alag hota hein. So clash to hongi naa of course.sona, bas clash hua hein, uske wajeise tum mujhe yaa mein tume kabhi nahi ko sakta. Do you get it? Haan? Do you get it?” He said to her with love in his eyes.
She nodded among tears and he wiped them swiftly.
“Ab bas.abbhi rona hein yaa dil halka hua hein? Feeling better?” He asked and she gave a smile.
He planted a kiss on her forehead and hugged her face into his chest. They remained silent in their arms as some silent good minutes passed.
“Weise....” he started after sometime.
“Hmmm....” she whispered.
“Don’t you think its going to rain?” He asked.
She looked up and saw its was lightening in the sky,somewhere it must be raining and the patterns in the sky made her smile. From her childhood,rain was one of her favourite things. She smiled alone and the tiny lights of the balcony shone in her eyes and upon her skin. She looked beyond beautiful and unaware to herself she was creating havoc inside her rohit who was watching her already.
“Pata hein rohit....”
She turned to him and froze to see him dangerously close to her.
“Hmm?” He asked dreamily.
“Rain....” she stumbled.
“Haan?” He whispered.his finger tucked her hair behind her ears meanwhile.
“Rain....was one.....of my favourite things....” she didn’t know what she was even saying, she saw his eyes on her lips and she gulped a bit to calm down.
“Aur you are my favourite thing.” He whispered leaning over and they were knowing what was coming. She breathed faster and he cupped her cheeks and almost placed his lips over hers but a loud thunder broke them apart. They both stared at the sky awhile and a silence passed them both.
“Baarish hone waala hein rohit chalo....andhar chalte....” she said softly,unable to look at him and not wanting to leave what was about to happned incomplete either.
Half heartedly,but having no choice either she tried getting up from there but in a second he grabbed her hand and drew her back to him, and she ended up landing on his lap. And before that first shocker even subsided, she only knew that he had made their lips meet and he was kissing her first swiftly then fiercely. Her hands ran into his hair as she let herself get lost in their kiss and as each passing second the kiss deepened she felt his arms running up her body devouring her. She stirred in his embrace and his one arm went underneath the hem of her saree and gripped her waist directly not letting her get away from him.
“Rohit....” she took his name as their kiss halted and his lips landed on her neck and she felt his fingers untieing the dhori.
“Stop me before we go somewhere we can’t return back from sona.stop me before that because i...need....that....to be the most special night.” He whispered as he pecked everywhere inch of her creamy skin from the neck downwards, placing his marks on her from time to time. He himself for the first time couldn’t resist her and he thought he must really be going crazy.
Her untamed fingers had started to unbutton his shirt out of the blue and she couldn’t believe herself and what she was doing. She was loosing the whole control she was having on herself till now and her hands shamelessly ran around his chiseled upper body criss crossing at his back theough the half opened shirt as her lips found the way around his shoulder and chest. A moan escaped when she felt his lips right on her cleavage.
“Rohit....” she whispered as she kissed him on his cheek caressing the other and he sighed against her milky skin.He realised that they better stay right there at this moment.He moved up to her again and soon they found them both calming down from the fire erupting in their bodies. They cuddled to each other and sonakshi hid her face against his bare chest and he hugged her to him and they both closed eyes and got lost in each others embrace.
May be a few hours have passed, and rohit opened his eyes. He figured out that they both have fallen asleep in each other’s arms and his sona was cuddling to him and sleeping like a little baby. The rain has started to malabar hills too and droplets were falling on them too and he caressed her cheek.
“Sona...”
He called softly but she was in a sound slumber probably meeting him in her dreams and he didn’t want to disturb her beauty sleep. He stood up with her in his arms and walked into their room.
Placing her on their bed he switched off the lights. Lying down next to her and covering them both with the duvet he cuddled to her warmth and placed a kiss on her cheek.
“I missed you so much wifey.I missed you so much. Thank you for being mine.” He whispered to her next and kissed her on the other cheek as he smiled to himself.
“I love you doctor surgeon.” She whispered in a silent voice in sleep and he smiled to himself and closed his eyes to join her in the dreams till next morning.
