Hrithik to play Lord Krishna in Deepika's Draupadi? - Page 3

Mahabharata movie can't be made. BW doesn't have the capacity or caliber to make it. Even Aamir is unable to do it.

Anyone else attempting to make this epic will ruin it.

Hrithik would look good as karna / Arjun.... I think Aamir would be the best krishna....

Having said that i doubt mantena's capabilities to do justice to the epic..but eager to see Deepika doing this....

There is no such thing as "original" ved vyas version of Mahabharata. Nobody has read ved vyas s original version because that does not exist

I have read critical edition of Mahabharata other than this you can read km ganguly of Mahabharata which are usually considered for reference

Last I read, there is no script yet. Just adding flavour of the season to increase buzz.

This should not happen. HR should do an Action or thriller. This Krishna nonsense is bullshit. Also, don't give a damn about draupadi's story. Such ancient crap should be left in mythological books.

No Ved Vyas Mahabharata is available. Of the 4 versions supposedly narrated by Vyasa to his 4 students. Only Vaishampayana version and part of Jaimini version are available.

The problem is these versions were written down centuries after they were orally narrated, so there is bound to be corruption in the stories.

The purest forms are supposed to be the Kashmiri and Nepali versions. BORI took 1600 plus versions available and put it all together, excluding stuff they considered interpolations. This is the critical edition.

The Sanskrit version of CE is available free online. The English translation by Bibek Debroy is available to buy.

That being said, the southern versions were not taken into consideration. There was one gentleman who did a critical edition of the southern recension. But that was ONE person. I hear BORI is doing CE of SR as well.

Not to mention the Southeast Asian versions. Then, there is Razm Nama, the version compiled by Akbar.

The earliest WRITTEN form available is the Spitzer Manuscript which was discovered in China. THAT, interestingly, seems to have a different arrangement acc to reports.

Re:Draupadi's importance in Mahabharata.

The poet was the one who engineered her wedding. He went to both Pandavas and Drupad with the alliance.

The Pandavas were in exile and quickly agreed probably because she was their best shot at getting their stature back. Aside from Hastinapuri, Panchal was the one major royal family of the times which had a claim on the imperial throne, a.k.a. the place occupied contemporaneously by Jarasandha.

Drupad took a bit of convincing, but he also agreed probably for similar reasons. It was his best chance for having control over the emperor.

All the romance shown in shows etc is nonsense.

After the wedding, the Pandavas get one heck of a dowry from Drupad.

Then, comes the Krishna part. If you notice, all the Yadavas were present at the archery contest and mentioned as participants, but not a single one tries. Subsequently, Krishna goes and INTRODUCES himself to Pandavas. He already knew the Panchalas. After the wedding, HE gives the Pandavas a hefty dowry also.

Panchali was the linchpin of that alliance between 3 major clans. At least the Pandava/Panchala part of it was stated to be engineered by Vyasa in the text.

No Panchali, no Indraprastha, no Mahabharata.

This far, she is a passive participant. Then, she becomes an active particpant.

The Khandava burning by Krishna and Arjuna was done in her presence, chasing out the Naga tribes. She didn't go along on a picnic though it is described as such. It was a military endeavour, pure and simple.

In addition, she became the finance minister of the empire and the citizen liaison (stated on different verses by Vidura, Yudhishtira, Suyodhana, and Karna).

The dice game and how she got the Pandavas out is well known.

She was important to the point Suyodhana made her a part of the exile contract of the 2nd dice game which he didn't do to any of the other Pandava wives. Draupadi didn't go along out of devotion to Pandavas or to remind them of assault. She went because those were the terms.

During exile, many assassins were sent specifically to attack HER (the so called demons). The final straw was Jayadrath. There is a scene in the war when Ghatotkatch actually says it was so.

I could go on and on, but it is beyond the scope of this forum, so stopping.

Cuz the subject matter is boring. I would prefer actual Mahabharata movie than a movie based on some character in it.

Also, it will be a disaster cuz no one cares to see a HR+Deepika movie in this fashion. Everyone wants a high octane action film with them burning the screen aka HR/Aish combo in Dhoom 2.
