Secondly, after reading some comments in this thread I just want to make this one point clear here - and it’s not about the jodis, fans or fandoms but about the general audience, the vast majorities, most of whom are even unaware what trp even means - those people who are being questioned and labeled as chauvinists just because they are choosing to watch a certain show. Like seriously, LOL.

Women empowerment, feminism and slogans of equality are apparently just mere words in our society and how conveniently we forget that sometimes just because we have those things easily accessible to us (we are the privileged class, after all) For us this might be just a show - some of us are watching it for a love story others just for Eri or Parth or just for the heck of random timepass. But people in rural masses, people in backward societies, people who are underprivileged watch it with a different psychology behind it, they watch it because their stories resonate with the characters of these shows sometimes - we don’t know but there might be a real Prerna out there who is being tormented, Prerna who was sacrificed like a lamb for loving someone ( honour killing ) and there might be a Prerna out there who was forced into a marriage - well, tons of such things exist in real. And for such people this might be something more than a show, they watch it because they get satisfaction by seeing their Prerna losing and winning and standing up for her rights. I mean, obviously people here make it a bit too dramatic and we watch these shows for different reasons altogether but for the vast majority it’s different and clearly they want their Prerna to be with the one who loves her truly and above all, whom she loves.

P.S - In an attempt to disparage a certain fandom please don’t look down upon the people in general - clearly, most of us here in this thread are from well educated backgrounds and this argument is null and void here. Truth is - we are a regressive society. Netflix aajane se fact change nahi ho jata society ka. I had no intention of writing all this here but since allegations were already made in this same thread so I had to.
