I am done with discussing the present situation in Maharashtra. I hope better sense prevails and there is no indiscriminate closing of projects just to score points.

What fundamental principles has SS or UT compromised on ?

Does any political party have any fundamental principles ?

Did BJP compromise on it's fundamental principle when it allied with PDP ? Such compromises happen all the time at different level. It is just that people like to single out SS for its actions while the similar actions of other parties are ignored.

The only fundamental principle that any political should have is taking and implementing policy decisions that will be for the benefit of most of the people. Unfortunately political parties don't do that.

Metro is not a replacement for suburban trains. It is for distributing the load better.

Come on, do you really think that a Metro that is built at 21000 crore rupees at 350 crore per km cost and which will ferry only a few lakh people will ease any pressure on a transport system that moves more than one crore people daily ?

In the same amount of money more efficient railways, BRTS and waterways could have been built with more first class coaches and better travel arrangements that would have benefited all.

Metro is a superhit project

You just have to look at crowds during peak hours

It is almost like local

So to say metro is elitist is hilarious

I regularly see daily workers take metro

Also line 3 which will now get delayed due to aarey stay

It runs parallel to Western railway network

Would have reduced load on locals

And one place where metro would be superhit will be mumbai

And

First metro is a private one

All the remaining metro will be run by mmrda or govt

So they can keep price under control like local

IMHO when new technology comes it is going to be costly till the economies of scale are reached. If we don't adopt technologies in it's early phase we will struggle to catch up later. As change, we must.

Let us take another example. LED lighting has taken off in India. Initially LED bulbs used to cost Rs700 or more and we used to buy from China and sell them here. But the Govt. based EESL decided to promote manufacture in India with some strict norms. The volumes have shot up, the prices have come to as low as Rs 70 (even less when purchased through Electricity Boards). Today the cost of making LED bulbs in India is at par with China if not less. This has tremendously saved Power. If at the start we had decided that LEDs are elitist, we would have been the looser. Today, Chinese manufacturers admit that they can't beat India in manufacturing of LED bulbs on price and quality

I keep comparing with china because we started off on equal footing but look where China is today.

There is a Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) train which runs between Shanghai city and Shanghai airport at 450 KPMH noiselessly and without pollution (considered one of the fastest in the world). There are hardly any local people travelling by this. It could be called a white elephant. But building that has enabled China to take a lead in Rare earth magnets technology (also safety at high speeds) which is now the bedrock of Electric Vehicles, the next wave of transportation. Surely, one fine day, the world has to shift from fossil fuel driven cars. China has taken an early lead and that is helping them to reduce pollution and import of crude. Every technology has a spinoff which can help the masses in so many different ways.

You are comparing chalk and cheese.

Desktops and LED's raised the efficiency and there were multiple manufacturers that reduced the price.

But Metro is not efficient at all, in any aspect. Even if Mumbai is covered in network of Metro it will still not be able to move even part of the volume of people that railways does at a ticket price that is comparable to the Locals.

If the amount of money that is been wasted in Metro was put into bettering railways, Buses, BRTS and waterways there would have been no need for this white elephant.

As far as I am aware, India has not coded any software of significance. What we have is call center culture.

You will hardly see any Indian contribution to open source software.

What new technology has Metro brought in ?

Metro is a product of developed countries that have moderate population . It is suitable for such countries not for countries like India.

BRTS is a product of Brazil, a country which is quite similar to India. It can do the work of Metro at fraction of a price, so can railways.

Even a third rate film in 100 seater multiplex will appear to be super-hit to some people.

Those must be some rich workers or they may be travelling for a couple of stations .

Anyway planting misinformation is hallmark of committed BJP supporters. Not surprised at all.

The very fact that he didn't remain true to his own father's principles is the biggest compromise of all 😏👎🏼 But I won't blame him.... it's BJP's stupidity to even make a poll alliance (LS and RS) with a party that has for the major part of the last 5 and a half years been bad mouthing the govt in that newspaper of theirs 🙄

What principles of Balasaheb Thackeray has UT violated ? UT has not compromised on anything on the contrary he is quite pragmatic and more shrewd than his father.

Hasn't BJP been trying to destroy it's allies in different states despite sharing power with them using whatever means they have at their disposal ? So if SS used the means that they have at their disposal what is wrong in that ?

UT taking oath jointly with Chagan "Lakhoba" Bhujbal who arrested Balasaheb and whom Balasaheb hated for stabbing him in the back. Balasaheb must be turning in his grave.
