Yes indeed it's too late. She didn't deserve this. Neither did he. At least he died knowing she was back in the country and had a chance to talk to her. Also, it looks like he didn't take that transfer after all.

He might have rejected it because of Babita's pregnancy. It is a tiny village so it might not have had all the required facilities to properly take care of her.

Also, if he didn't take the transfer, then does that mean he didn't get the promotion either?
